I don't know what Jimmy will say, but I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Back when we were trying to get our cats in, she was very hesitant, and said that dogs were a problem. (I don't know if you have heard your neighbor across the ways dog?
But since then our obnoxious neighbor directly across from us has brought dogs into her apartment.

Yeah, the dog across the way is always barking, and that may cause a problem with your new dog if she automatically starts barking when other dogs do. It will happen in stereo for you.
It isn't just the barking (though that is a big hassle) people have been known to let their dogs urinate in common passageways, and there was once crap in the elevator. They also aren't good about scooping the poop when they do it in the parking lot. So Jimmy may just say no period. I dunno though it couldn't hurt to try.
Why can't Nikki keep her? What kind of dog is she? A chihuaha from the looks of it?

nikki doesn't like dogs that much, plus she has chinchillas, so she already has pets, but I think the barking won't be too bad, and Jimy said she'd talk to the owner...
