Hi, I'm posting here. As pretty much everyone knows, January 20th was the GANTZ world premier at Hollywood. I originally wasn't going to go because I didn't get tickets, but thanks to Cecilia and Inez, I went~ LIFE SAVERS<3 I CAN'T BELIEVE I CONSIDERED ALMOST MISSING THIS. Here I am recording this just because it was amazing.
Anyway, by 12:30, we were Hollywood bound - we being my sisters and Cecilia. Listening to Arashi music and talking about whatever, we got there around 1-something after taking forever to find a parking lot. It was really funny because on the way to the theater, we were walking and my little sister had her Nino uchiwa and some guy asks, "Is that your boyfriend?" and she goes, "YES!" When we got to the front of the theater, we were sort of confused and went to the box office to ask to pick up the tickets, but the guy told us where to go and was like "See if there are still any left." And Cecilia was like, "What? But I have this." she showed him her confirmation paper, but he was like, "Everyone says that~" We walked away and I said, "he was probably just messing with us :|"
When we got up stairs, there was Wendy and Vanessa~~!! After not seeing them for like three years, it was a mini-reunion. Then I also saw Destini! It really was like a mini-reunion for us.
Then, we sat down with Wendy and Vanessa, but I got hungry so I bought pizza for me and my sisters and ate it until we got tired of eating it. Somethings that happened while we waited for like an hour and a half until we could go in: a lot of GANTZ staff kept passing buy us, some even took pictures. Then I saw this one GANTZ staff lady standing there and smiled at her. She continued to look at the group of fans who were sitting and talking, then looked at me again. Then she walked over to me, so I stood up to say hi. It looked like she was having a hard time picking her words and then my sister was like, "Speak Japanese!" And the lady asked me, "Nihonjin desu ka?" And I was like, "Iie. Ninhogo wo benkyoshimasu." She said, "Ohh, watashi wa eigo wo benkyoshimasu." Then asked me, "Are you all friends?" I looked at everyone who looked like they were having a good time taking pictures and talking. I told her that everyone became friends because of this, though some of us were friends, a lot of us met online and came together for this. She looked pretty surprised before thanking me and walking away.
Around two-ish, Inez (
ltgmars ) called me to ask where I was. It was really funny because I saw her at first looking around, and my older sister was like, is that her? And Inez pulled out her phone and stuff too. I was like, "If she was calling me, then my phone would be ringing." Then, when she really did call me, I laughed just because of that~ Inez is my life saver who gave me her extra ticket. I gave her the $15 after rummaging through my stripper money. I only had ones and twenties. "Stripper money? What do you think Nino's here for?!" xDD She's so niceee~~
So I went to sit back with my group and then when we could go in, I pulled Inez to my group because we were much closer to the front. Until this group went around and totally cut through D; Whatever~ So my group was now my sisters, Cecilia, Wendy, Vanessa, and Inez~ We chatted and stuff during the wait. A funny part was when we were talking about who was a Nino fan and Inez, my little sister, and Wendy all rose their hands, but at the same time, this person came asking for someone whose name sounded like cannibal and thought it was Inez. xD
We got our tickets and were relocated to another line where we ended up being super squished. We waited there for an hour (sorry Inez if it was awkward, I'm a somewhat socially awkward person at times and can't converse properly) and these people with cameras kept passing by so the fans kept pretending to get hyped up for it. (Inez: MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT!) Around 4:30-ish, the fans started really screaming. Inez was like, "IS THIS THE REAL THING?" Actually, all of us were thinking that.
Then Nino came by. OH MY GOD, I SCREAMED SO MUCH. I THINK I DIED. It was amazing, even if it was only like three seconds. Poor Inez couldn't stand after that, she really did fall over.
We got into the theater and were afraid of not getting good seats. The theater would have I suppose three sections? The bottom part closest to the stage/front, the middle, then the top. Between the bottom and the first row of the middle was like this walk way so there was a reasonable gap between the two. The mike guy was also there.
Anyway, there was lots of screaming when Arashi facts came on the screen and lots of screaming when Sho was shown on the screen for honey and clover. But OH MY GOD. WHEN NINO WALKED DOWN THE STAIRS. We, Inez, me, Cecilia, my little sister, and my older sister (in that order) were actually sitting pretty much at the end of our row, given one person, so we were really close to the stairs. We screamed so much, my little sister started crying. Vanessa, who sat behind me, started crying too. Nino and MatsuKen gave their greetings in english, which was so much win, and we screamed after almost everything they said.
When the movie began, I was so tired from all the screaming. I just sat back and enjoyed it. Even though it was english dubbed, I enjoyed it a lot. The only thing the dub did for me was lose the emotion in the actors' voices and bother me just slightly. I thought it was fairly decent and didn't take away from me actually enjoying the film. It was funny though how I was reading their lips during some parts. I was still amazed at how well the acting was conveyed with just their eyes~
So then, Nino and Matsuken came out again at the end for Q&A. So much screaming. It was a lot of fun. I was really surprised with myself because I could understand a lot of what they were saying without the help of the interpreters. I felt so proud. And I was even happier when the interpreters conveyed their messages, because I think they did a really good job. I know Nino's interpreter was like, amazing. He really got Nino's voice down I think. As for MatsuKen's, I'm amazed by him too. I found myself thinking, Oh my god, how does he remember all that? Because MatsuKen spoke a lot before letting his interpreter translate.
One of my favorite parts was when Nino told us that during the scene where MatsuKen was supposed to be dying, it was actually his birthday when they filmed it. So Nino kept saying that they could actually see him getting older. Nino also said he baked a cake for Matsuken, it was the first and last birthday cake he'd made. And then Nino did such a smarmy little grin that just screamed Nino. It was like, I don't know, just so Nino like. Everyone screamed when he did that. (it was funny because on the car ride there, we were talking about wanting Nino to do something so Nino like, as in do something with his hands, or grin a certain way and then he did THAT!)
Other highlights of the interview was when they were asked if they thought they could survive an actual GANTZ mission. Nino said he didn't think he would because he dies in so many roles. The only way he'd survive is if he hid behind MatsuKen. MatsuKen said the only way he'd survive is if he hid behind his interpreter xD
And more interview stuff that you could see online.
THEN. THEY WANTED TO TAKE PICTURES.
As I mentioned, there was this walk way thing in front of us. Perfect for them to get in front of and take pictures. I looked at Inez and Cecilia and we started freaking out. I held on to Inez and Cecilia so tight~ We freaked out sooooo much as he walked in front of us. He was like, what, five feet in front of us taking pictures? I was like, Oh god, I hope I don't look derpy in this picture. Then, when they finished, he walked past us, and we were like NINO! Inez yelled OTSUKARE SAMA DESHITA! And then! THEN HE LOOKED AT US. HE LOOKED AT INEZ, I'M SURE, FOR THAT. HE LOOKED IN OUR DIRECTION. AT US. When he walked away, Inez asked me if she wasn't seeing things, and he wasn't. We freaked out so much again. Like spazzing in our chairs.
Then I sat back, like slumped in my chair and felt all teary. They were back at the front taking pictures and giving their good-bye speeches.
OH. Another thing. I swear, Nino kept looking in our direction. Why? Because I think he was reading Cecilia's sign. I made her a sign that said "today is my birthday" in Japanese. Because it was her birthday. He kept looking over, and I think he read her sign! I hope he did xD I also think I made eye contact with him once, but that's hard to tell xD
Another highlight was when Nino and Matsuken were taking pictures at the front, someone yelled out, "NINO DAISUKI!" and Nino laughed a little to himself, and smirked. Matsuken didn't show much of a reaction, but yeah. It was cute xD
One of the things that left the biggest impression on me - besides Nino being so perfect and amazing in person - was how much the two bowed in front of the audience. They were really thankful for everyone being there, I could tell. It just felt really sincere and everything to see how thankful they were. It made me really happy, and I wanted to thank them back for all the hard work they had put in. So I just cheered louder for them.
It was an incredibly good night.
