By finished, do you mean the book, Dune, or the series, including, Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapterhouse: Dune?

The book Dune. It seemed to end rather abruptly. I mean, I understand that the plot points were all resolved, for the most part. I suppose it does continue...

It does come to a rather quick end... and the next book is really a plot of its own, but at the same time, the grand design that he dreams of is not realized until the sixth book. Also, the Jihad he visualizes does not happen in the books, but primarily between books 1 and 2. It is, however, a major plot point to the series.

I found the series to be a bit to Machiavellian and humorless for my taste.

Odd that I stole my fursona's name from it. ;)

You know, I didn't know that for years. When I read the first Dune book, I finally made the connection.

Reading the second book now...I can see why some people wouldn't like it. I find it...interesting.

To each, his own. I read it back when I was a wee lad of twelve-ish; I may see it differently were I to read it now.

But I do enjoy Weber's characters; they have a sense of humor and aren't afraid to show it.
