Everyone is emerging from their caves!

Hello lovely LJ pals! It has been awfully quiet around here. Then, I take a step back for a day or two and suddenly everyone is here. I love it! I remain completely unexciting, but I wanted to chime in along with others.

First, I’m gearing up for fall, and I want to know your favorite fall things (because maybe I can steal them to become my ( Read more... )

Can I do spring? I am "upside down” here at the south hemisphere!

I like almost everything about autumn:

The garden of my house is tinged with ochre, there are several fruit trees loaded at that time: quince, plums, apples, persimmon. I love the winter schedule, when everyone goes to sleep earlier.

Loaded fruit trees sound amazing, but here in the city, that is not common. I like the idea of going to bed early for sure. But waking up and it is dark, then spending the entire day inside at work, and when I get off work it is once again dark … I just don’t deal well with that. Or the cold. Maybe someday I’ll move south. Until then, I’ll just complain :)

Just remember... the Bugs get Bigger the farther South you go... being near the Mexican Border now, I can attest to this truth. Plus my Dad brought me a grasshopper from Florida... my Teacher measured it, it was 5 inches long. Our little eastern / mid-west hoppers were No comparison. Hoppers, Spiders, and Snakes Oh MY! And I'm not referring to Slytherins either.

Omg, total deal breaker. I am the biggest wimp when it comes to bugs. Why is there no perfect place to live?!?!

Fall brings out the hot chocolate, but for myself, I love warm cinnamon tea with honey. It makes the whole house smell wonderful while boiling it in a giant pot. Apple cider comes out, and a personal favorite is sliced into wedges tart Granny Smith apples dipped in caramel... slightly less messy than caramel covered or candied apples on sticks.

As to meditation, my mind almost never stops, thus I generally suck at it. Although, listening to the ocean waves breaking on the sand is very soothing to me. And when I simply Cannot sleep in a strange place with odd sounds... oddly enough, white noise actually allows my mind to rest. Remember when our TV's used to go into that snowy screen of static after the channels signed off at night? Yup, white noise. I use this particular youtube version.

Seeing the fall color changes is something I treasure, though haven't seen it in over 30 years spent in desert. Hope you enjoy!

All good ideas! I do love all the foliage changes of autumn, so I should add that to the pros column. Sorry you’re missing out, although I’ll think about you in the desert when our humidity is at 95%.

It is about time for me to switch out my summer candle scents for my fall ones. I’ve never made my house smell good by boiling cinnamon tea. Sounds like an excellent idea!

Yeah, my mind whirls constantly. I’ll definitely check out this link. I do love white noise.

Our humidity has been in the 70-100% range for a while, gotta love monsoon rainy seasons. over 100 degrees for Moths, with humidity as the icing on the sweaty cake. ugh.

I Far prefer the natural cinnamon scents over the manufactured ones. BUT... be sure to purchase Actual Cinnamon, not the fake stuff some places pawn off as cinnamon but dangerous.
