Hey friends, hope you all are well. I’m wondering if anyone has ever been a member with skill share. I certainly don’t have the time for it right now, but I am intrigued. I won’t bore you with my questions unless someone speaks up to say they’ve used the site. Of course you might not be willing to admit you’ve used it just to avoid my 100 questions

Sorry, I'm no use for you in this. I have no idea what you are talking about 🤣

Well, I barely have an idea what I’m talking about. It is a website where you buy a membership and have access to a large array of “master classes.”

You are all fantastic and I hope the world is treating you as such!
Thanks I really needed this uplifting comment of yours. I've never used skillshare but I have some ideas about it from looking at their site. The pro is that I think it offers plenty of courses. The con is that it requires some discipline to find the right one for you. You can browse endlessly through all options without starting anything.
What I really don't like is their refusal to mention their annual fee. You need to create an account and start a trial to get informed about the costs and after said trial they immediately send a bill for a one year membership. From a screenshot in the faq I noticed this was about 170 of something (I suspect $) but you still have to add taxes to that. So it doesn't come cheap especially if you don't know if you're really going to use it.
I would say: look for some free YouTube tutorials to find out if you like to learn from a video instruction in the first place. Hope this is helpful..

I’m glad you took my comment to heart because I truly meant it. The world is not always a nice place, and I’m trying to do better at lifting people up because we all need it.
Thanks for weighing in on skillshare. The exact reason I was asking about it is because the ads and the website give so little information unless you sign up. And sure, there’s a free trial, but I’m not yet ready to do that. I guess I would’ve expected them to either have a list of all the courses that I could look at to see if it was worth my time or a couple of short sample videos or something. I’m kind of half and half on video instruction. If the person making the video is very good at what they do, I can learn from a video. But I have watched some or I can’t really see it up close enough what they’re doing, or they aren’t very good at never rating as they go etc.
Hope you are still doing well.

I don't know anything about SkillShare, but I have learned a lot about crafts (painting) I'm drawn to from the programming on the Educational Television Network here in my state. While the School classes are funded by the State and are for children's regular education, there is a LOT of programming that offers training or teaching or knowledge on many subjects, and those are funded my membership in SC ETV Endowment Foundation, and larger National and International Foundations.
It is a beautiful arrangement that has worked since it's beginning in 1957. I learned to paint well enough that people were willing to by my art. And all these programs can be watched on your television at home. If you are a member of the foundation and donate to help purchase these programs, then you get a subscription to Passport where you can logon and watch reruns and new programming at any time.

What a cool thing to have access to! Honestly, I would always prefer to learn a skill from a real human. Well, presumably the videos are real people. I guess learning in person is what I mean to say, lol. But we don’t have a lot of options in my neck of the woods. I didn’t know that you paint. I love that! if you’re ever willing to share any of your work online I’d love to see it. I don’t have an artistic bone in my body, so I like living vicariously through my friends.

Also, by any chance, did you ever hear from CryingCinderella?

I am so sorry your mom is having health problems. That can be so exhausting for you whether you’re her caregiver or whether you’re having to go to appointments, or just sitting around worried. Don’t forget to take care of yourself along the way.
I have not heard from CryingCinderella. I knew they were going to be busy here a while back, but that has been some time ago. I also know they were having some health problems. I do worry when people go missing that something bad has happened to them. I left a comment on A03 to check in and I haven’t received a response. I know they had a go fund me page at one point and I thought maybe if there was an update in terms of health, there might be an update there, but I couldn’t find the link.
And no I never tried this out. I’m not ruling it out in the future but some things came up and I got very busy. if I dug deeper I could probably find more information on cost and what’s available etc, but they don’t make it very easy upfront.. Which is not a good sales tactic.
