How is everyone? Did anyone get to see the solar eclipse? I’m not sure why I am fascinated by these sort of events, but I always am. However, it has been drizzly and gloomy all day, so we can’t be sure there even IS a sun up there at all.
As a summer lover, it is hard for me to let go, but I’ve had to face the facts that it is now sweater weather. I

Saw the great dimming of the sun this morning, but it wasn't super dramatic here. I enjoy an eclipse though! So interesting! I like to think about how the cavepeople must have reacted to stuff like that. Ugg, you jackass, you shouldn't have swiped that saber tooth kitten from its mom! or something

Yes, I love your thoughts on cave people! And even in current times, when we have the science to explain various phenomena, half the population doesn’t believe it and are still blaming Ugg and his kitten theft.
I think I also like the idea of sitting in the park with ridiculous glasses on my face, staring at the sky, and seeing lots of people around me who have paused their daily routine for this very activity. And knowing that this is going on in cities all over at the very same time. I guess it is just fun when things unite us in these ways.
I hope you are able to pack some rest time in between all that you have to get done.

I don't think we were in the path of the eclipse, but it even if we had been it was cloudy and over cast all day here.
I actually like the change of the seasons, even winter (as long as I don't have to be out and about in the ice and snow.) And since I am retired I don't have to be anywhere at any certain time. But I do admit that long about February I will be ready to be done with winter weather. Spring is my favorite season, I love seeing everything turn green, and the flowers come out, and the hummingbirds return from their travels.
As for what's new, I should post more. I'm so bad, I lurk and then complain about how dead things are here, but I seldom post. I'm still reading a lot of fanfic since I discovered some FB groups that do a lot of recs and I'm finding fics I never tried before (still HP though mostly still SS/HG, LM/HG, and some Dramione as well.) But I also started two new hobbies this year, which I think I'll actually break down and do an update on me and what I'm up to post on my own LJ

I do think that I might miss the changing of the seasons if they were gone. But I am very cold blooded and the cold makes me miserable. I work in a drafty old building while having to wear specific clothing that provides no warmth. Maybe I could make my fortune by coming out with a line of thermal scrubs. I hate days where the whole city shuts down because of treacherous road conditions, law enforcement is asking that people not leave their homes, but I still have to drive in zero visibility. And when I go to work, it is dark. When I leave work, it is dark. The whole thing just feels horribly depressing to me. But then spring comes, and it gets a bit warmer, and everything turns green, and I suppose I wouldn’t appreciate it so much if I didn’t have winter as a contrast.
I do think being retired is a game changer. I have to use all of my fingers and some of my toes to count out my years until retirement. But I’m definitely looking forward to it!

I'm basically a shut-in, due to being my Mom's DCW, and she cannot be vacc'd due to other health issues. She almost died & had 3 ER surgeries this year, so I err on the side of "live in a gawds-be-damned BUBBLE" caution.
Going through my rocks & mineral collection. Cleaning & sharing with rock hound friend. Nothing exciting to report.
Sincerely wish I could SHIP THE SUN to you for a while, I'd like a bit of cool, Fall weather.

I’m sorry you’re stuck, but I’m glad your mom has you to care for her. I hope you at least are able to step outside and get some fresh air. Even if it is not fall enough for you. Perhaps you did send some sun because we hit 90 again yesterday. But never fear, 40’s are coming by Friday. I’ll try to send you some.
I’m glad you popped in to say hi!

LOL, I shipped you my sunshine, and instead we POURED thestrals & hypogryffs and are currently in the 50's F.
Thank you. It's well worth it to be stuck, because honestly without me my Mom would be gone. My siblings were letting her slowly die, with their ignorance of her precarious health. I am glad to have my Mom with me, every moment is precious.
I too am happy to hear from you, it's been a while.
