This is a rant that's been a long time coming. Sticking up for Hannah when almost no one else would pretty much made me have ALL THE HANNAH FEELINGS. I've pretty much driven my friends and family to not ask me anything about Bones because, intentional or not, I will inevitably end up in a rant about Hannah Burley and the problem with how that

Ugh there is so much of this that makes we want to pound my head on the table. First and foremost being who Brennan was supposed to be she should not have kids, ever, it was not a matter of growing into parenthood, but capability. Stopping now because that whole thing just sends me into fits.

I totally agree with you about tv doing the mommy track thing as well as wanting to be in control. He is and has been my least favorite character the few times I have watched the show.

The whole thing reeks of we don't like strong women because they don't obey coupled with immediate hate for anyone who gets in the way of our OTP.

The show's treatment of Brennan pisses me off every time I think of it. The whole pregnancy thing was just the tip on the iceberg that sent it crashing down. Honestly, I think they would have been much better off trying to conspicuously hide Emily's pregnancy. It might have been bit obvious, but at least it would have stuck to characterization and everything else

That has been done before and worked out okay. Yes the viewers know because of the angles and filming style, but audiences are sophisticated enough to move past it. The actress being pregnant is just not an excuse anymore.

I'm sorry they're all being idiots, hon. *pets!* For what it's worth, you made me want to watch Bones & that's never happened before. Hannah sounds like an interesting character. xD

I just thought I should make my case for her character because no one else has yet.

Yay! She really is. Totally just watch her seven episodes. And maybe S1 so you can get a reference to the type of character Temperance used to be. There's a lot of fantastic interactions she has with Brennan in quite a few of her S6 eps that are definitely worth watching.

I think one of the issues with Brennan was that her character became less and less believable, and it became more of "Booth is showing her the light" in terms of their relationship. And then Hannah came along, and she didn't need to be shown the light because of everything you said above, and I think that probably upset the status quo of what the fans had become used to in terms of the main ship. She really did harken back to Old!Brennan, who would kick ass and be independent and her own person and believable, and I think that Hannah was really good for Brennan in that light since we saw more of Old!Brennan in the time they spent together.

But I really don't like how fandom just ignored her as a character, and instead just went into full out war on her character due to shipping issues. Because really, Hannah was pretty damn awesome, especially in terms of the show.

I really don't know enough about Bones because I never watched seriously, but NO, Brennan is not the person she became in the later seasons, that is just typical ~oh she was made a better person because of a man~.

I stopped watching Bones after they decided the moment that they'd been building up for the whole length of the show was OFF CAMERA. WHO MADE THAT DECISION??? Because I interpreted Bones coming into Booth's bed as "I am sad that my friend is dead, will you hold me?" not "LET'S BANG IT'LL TAKE MY MIND OFF THINGS"
