Woo! Can I just say that I enjoyed chapter 1 very much? The collision of the magical world and the Muggle world looks like a theme here. And now we know who the quoted description is - and I don't think he's the HBP.

And, breeding Dementors! Yikes!

I kinda like Scrimgeour already. He's straightforward at least and I think he'll be heaps better than Fudge. I was kinda sad to see Amelia go, because I though she'd have made a good Minister.

And, breeding Dementors! Yikes!

Ditto!

How do Dementors breed anyway? Would it be in Fantastic Beasts?

Fudge/PM = OTP

I love these unrelated first chapters.
It's an interesting thought of how the muggle and wizarding world interract, and, I suppose, something we overlook.

Oh well, seems JK has been reading fanfic. I swear most post-OotP fanfic started with the 'Sirius is innocent, Fudge is sacked' ideal, but I'm not complaining...

I know I love the book already (and Scrimgeour, despit having a really hard to spell name seems a more competent minister of magic...)

Something is going to have to go terribly wrong to make up for this nice, cosy, thank-god begining...then again the blurb kind of gave that away...

(sorry if I make no sense in this comm, it's ten-to-one, so I should be forgiven)

*raises hand*

I've seen it too many times as a 'serious' spelling (just realised how innappropriate the word was) to be able to giggle at it...kwidditch or however it was spelt, however, I found much less annoying...

Okay, so how does one pronounce Scrimgeour? And what does it mean?

Clan website here. They probably have a pronunciation guide somewhere about. . .

I was thinking Skrim-gee-oor. French-y-like.

Sadly, I think we'll need to hear from JK on this. Or britglish.

I'm guessing either Scrim-jow-er or Scrim-gerrrr. Frency with lots of rolled Rrrrrs.

I think I read a fanfic like this once...

But, wow. This is a departure from the trend, isn't it? No Privet Drive to start us off. Backed away from Harry a bit.

Dementors breeding! How do they manage it? No, nevermind, someone will write that fanfic in a day or two I'm sure.

Scrimmy scares me. (I can't spell that bloody name, not at one in the morning on four hours sleep...) I don't know why... He's certainly more capable than Fudge, but he's also rather, I dunno, hard-edged.

Poor Amelia!

Kingsley as a secretary made me giggle. Just, OMG.

I'm not sure I want to contemplate how Dementors breed, but I love that the breeding creates mist. Or is that just the Muggle perception? I'm not sure, but it's an interesting thought.

Dementor sex will be the new squick, taking over from the squid obsession.

Harry's shrouded in 'unseasonal' mist too, so it must be an after-effect?

Now I'm even more disturbed. All of England mopes around shrouded in the Dementors' version of the unsightly wet spot. Ew.
