That memory, Slughorn's memory - it seems this is the reason Dumbledore wanted so much to employ him. If Slughorn could only teach Potions, then the Potions position would have to be free for Dumbledore to offer it to Slughorn. I think that's why he made Snape the DADA professor and not so because he wanted to give Snape the job. Speaking of which, I'd expected we would've seen more DADA lessons by now.

No kidding, for having waited all this time to see Snape teaching DADA i'm not getting nearly enough of it... only the first lesson, and strangely enough it seemed perfectly fine, Snape even said Hermione's answer was correct for fuck's sake. *wants her Snape back*

OH! You is so smart! Never would've guessed that. And ditto, Snape teaching DADA gives us so much more fodder than JKR is using here!

The password is abstinence. Which makes the heart grow fonder...supposedly.

SOMEBODY PLEASE KILL LAVENDER. OR ME. I DON'T CARE WHICH AT THIS POINT. JUST MAKE THE WON-WON STOP.

Or Hermione could just say...well, that.

HAH! Hermione knows how it is in the Malfoy family. It's so totally obvious.

OMG I had forgotten that Malfoy mentioned Fenrir. *headdesk*

I think that, like Tom Riddle, Harry has a tendency to make assumptions that are so totally wrong based on incomplete and/or slanted information. Which gives me hope for Malfoy yet. A tiny, pathetic little shred of hope, but OMG it lives.

The snark makes me so very, very happy.

Harry should NOT trust Dumbledore so blindly. Didn't he learn anything in fifth year? No, WAIT. He's not looking Dumbledore in the eye... And he clearly doesn't trust Dumbledore's opinion of Snape, so he must not trust Dumbledore fully. But why would he say he's Dumbledore's man? Is he really ( ... )

Someone please explain to my brain that absence and abstinence are two different things. I know it, but somehow I came up with that bizarre connection anyway. *rolls eyes*

hahaha, well at least in MY experience, abstinence DOES make the heart grow fonder. Or other body parts at least ;)

After all that crap going on between Harry/Ron/Hermione/Ginny/Dean/Luna/Lavender, the fact that the password is now "abstinence" made me spurt tea out of my nose. Fucking priceless.

But as an aside, how many children's books have any of you read that incorporate the phrase "that little slut"? I know there's all sorts of other stuff in here that I wouldn't read to my eight year old (provided I weren't a proud non-parent, of course) but that one just really surprised me.

Ditto on both counts: Love love love the new password but I definitely did a double-take when I saw "slut" on the page.

Well, the I don't think the theory about DD's hand works out because didn't Snape mention in Ch. 2 that he (Dumbledore) had recently sustained a serious injury due to failing reflexes? I was assuming the hand was the injury to which Snape was referring so it would have occurred before the Unbreakable Vow was made. Though I do think (or at least hope) that Dumbledore still already knows about Snape, but then I can be a bit of a Snape redemptionist at times. :)

Also I believe that JKR did say that it wasn't Tom. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think people kept asking and she said that she'd already said that it wasn't Voldemort so therefore it wasn't Tom.

“shush Cindy, go fetch Goodnight Moon.”

Hee!
