Snape's Loyalties

Jul 21, 2005 17:52

I know you all are going to hate me. But what the hell. Who can’t stand to be hated every now and then? Besides, there is no fun to be had if everyone agrees.

Has anyone else considered the idea that maybe Snape is just evil? )

Yeah, my feelings on the Snape matter are to not take sides. I don't feel like we've been given enough evidence and/or information in context to logically conclude anything. But if other people want to, go for it. I'm not going to deny the presence of evidence to be revealed on both sides of the matter. I just don't think we can confirm any of it.

So we agree. The entire matter is really clouded, and both sides make a good arguement (well, okay the Good!Snape side does make a better arguement but that honestly means very little in the world of JKR). I'm going to stay safely in the middle until JKR comes out and says 'Snape is evil!' or 'Haha! Got you!'

Aha, touché! I submitted my own rant without reading yours, and you make many good points that I would like to address. I belong to three HBP communities, and if you don't mind I think I am going to post a link of this entry to them along with my rebuttal.

I am a Severus Snape supporter. I beleive hes was following Dumbledore's order when he killed him.

*Pat, Pat*

'Tis okay. Most people are. ^^ I just like being different (Okay, so I'm indecisive as hell and refuse to take a stance on something I don’t know more about...)

I too stand firm in the support of Severus Snape. Dumbledore is the man on this one!

She's almost always purposefully ambiguous. That makes it really tough to tell what she's saying in interviews. :P

On the other hand she says she needs to get a new DADA teacher which makes it sound like Harry will be going back (even if only for a while). See? Horrible, isn't she?

This was a very good argument and described my thoughts exactly. I'm not a Snape supporter (frankly, I do not like the man and hope for a painful death for him). And while it would be easy for someone like me to dismiss any possibility that he could be good, there are substantial clues that say that he was acting on Dumbledore's behalf. Which is why I, like you, am on the fence here. And, frankly, I think I will be on the fence until the 7th book comes out and JKR tells us which side of the fence Snape is really on.

Yeah. I'll be right with the entire time. It's just too big a decision for me to make without JKR absoulte word on the whole ordeal.

Of course if the seventh book comes out and it turns out Snape is evil then, you know, there are still going to be people in denial.

There's going to be a lot of ticked off people if Snape turns out evil.

Not that there wasn't after book 6. ;).

Well, it comes with the fandom and I don't think the fans are in any position to protest. With all the money that she made, JKR could have quit after book 4.

I agree, no matter how right I think I am as a Snape Supporter, I could very well be entirely wrong.

It's all about book7.
