This story-telling format suits the topic so well. And the vivid details (of Merope’s looks) make great-grandmother’s and Maud’s experience look real and immediate. Very nice!

Thank you very much! :) I ran into some problems writing this: it started off the wrong way round, and I had to rethink the whole thing. I'm really happy you enjoyed it.

I love Tom Riddle Sr/Merope - so mnay possibilities! This is a fantastic fic - I love it when she turns into sad old Merope when Tom's not around.

Thank you very much! :) I was a bit disappointed that this one didn't do so well, and I'm really happy you liked it. And it's now got its own icon, for when I pop it on to my journal. :D

Oooh, that's heartbreaking to see everything Merope ever wanted wrapped up into one package, even her elegant mannerisms, and know how wrong the whole thing is. The poor thing.

Thank you very much for a lovely comment! :) And thank vegablack62, of course.

I never thought about Merope at all until this challenge, but when I was flicking through HBP I found her transition from ugly Gaunt daughter to Tom Riddle's wife incredibly intriguing: especially as it all happens off the page.

I really enjoyed this. You write wonderfully as always, and I love how you introduce the pairing, with the great-grandmother's storytelling. I could see, hear and feel it all. It was nice to read something completely different for a change. Well done. :)
