I'm with Maggie -- I thought the movie scene was more than a little odd. But this story provides nice depth for it. I like how Albus understands the way his age might appear to the young, and I particularly like him thinking about his historical legacy: of course he would.

I too found this a very odd line in the movie. But this explains it very well.
I particularly liked even though he didn't deserve the affectation.
I've often wondered how Albus could live with some of the things he did. This gives him more depth.
