Master list and awards ceremony!

Aug 01, 2009 13:07

Folks, we've reached the end of the Half-Blood Prince Challenge. I've been delighted by the quality of submissions posted here--and pleasantly surprised to discover that there are still quite a few untold stories about these characters and events. All told, we had 15 submissions from 11 participants:

Thank you for running the challenge! :)

What I appreciated most of all is that you chose a password that even a dolt like me could remember. So special thanks for that. :)

Can I just clarify that we're to wait for you to add author names to the submissions? You edited this between my reading on my journal and logging in to the sockpuppet.

It was fun! I enjoy low-key challenges like this one (I'm only sorry I didn't finish my own fic in time).

Don't worry about the author's names--I'm doing it as we speak.

Thanks again for two wonderful fics! M.

Thank you so much for running this, Maggie! It's been such fun, and you've done such a fine job dealing with my sock puppet stupidity with everything.

I've enjoyed reading the stories; I had a fine time choosing prompts; I've become familiar with several excellent new writers (new to me, anyway).

It's been a great way to spend some summer hours. Dare we hope for something similar when the DH films appear?

It *has* been fun, hasn't it? In a low-key, midsummer sort of way. I was really impressed by the overall quality of fics and the way folks reconsidered issues I hadn't thought through fully. I know as an academic I tend to obsess over things for years, but I really think there are still quite a few stories to be told about these books.

I suppose we could do it again for DH next summer, hm? (God, I hated that book so much--but perhaps I've mellowed out over time.) Thanks for participating! I'm enjoying getting to know your writing. M.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An award for me too! I usually feel my comments inadequate and trite compared with the fanworks but I need to offer some kind of appreciation. Fandom gives me a great deal of pleasure and sometimes things to ponder or marvel at. Offering a wee thanks is small currency to pay for that. And in a small way, it allows me to belong too even though I don't create.
I just wish that I could make others understand the basic courtesy of leaving a word for the artists.

Oh my word, W, you leave the best comments--I've noticed that, on these fics and my fics and elsewhere. Don't ever think that they're inadequate or somehow less than the fic-- thoughtful readers absolutely essential, and you've done such a good job of encouraging folks and reccing and generally helping keep the wheels of fandom turning. Thanks for doing that here! A Very Grateful Maggie

A certainty award! And such a wonderful presentation speech with it.
It more than makes up for having Potter's spawn strut around with 'Severus' as middle name - trust Potter to add insult to injury.
And it even helps to get over yesterday's disaster, when I found out that I am like Muriel Weasley.
Thank you.

Truly, I heard Snape's voice when I read your comment. Thanks for reading and guessing! Maggie
