I was really glad neither of the liquor privatization initiatives passed.
But I disagree with you about the candy/soda tax because it was very poorly written and inconsistent. The products of local businesses were taxed when non-WA business products of the same nature were not, and the definition of candy was ridiculous (leading to Twix bars NOT being candy, but healthy energy bars being considered candy). It was very poorly conceived and executed, and I'm glad it's been repealed.
What should have passed was 1098, because it would have made the tax structure much more equitable and brought in a ton of revenue for the state. Unfortunately, we in WA are all about no taxes at all this time around, regardless :(
