Title: [untitled]
Notes: Written for melisah 's seasonstocking. Merry Christmas Mel! I hope this is ~*sparkly*~ enough for you. :)

It's that time of the year again. Plastic evergreen trees standing behind glass windows; waiting, hoping, anticipating for someone to come along and take them home. The plastic evergreens watch with envy as one of them gets picked, but are not discouraged for there is still plenty of time.

Once a plastic evergreen is picked out and taken home, it settles into a nice corner and stands with patience as the family dress it up. First comes a line of red tinsel, then a line of gold. There, step one done.

The next bit usually takes a while, and some good-natured quarrelling. Red and green bow ties here and there, multi-coloured plastic presents, gold and silver bells, colourful baubles lined with glitter, and various decorations in the shape of angels, wreathes, snowmen, bells; all sorts of Christmas-y stuff. When all that’s done, round and round come the Christmas lights, settling nicely in the spaces not yet decorated, covering the plastic evergreen from head to toe with potential glow.

Finally, the finishing touch - the crowning of the plastic evergreen with The Star. And that’s when it truly becomes a Christmas tree. But not quite. Off goes all the lights in the house and on turns the switch for the Christmas lights.

Really, there is nothing better than for a plastic-evergreen-turned-beautiful-Christmas-tree to stand there, sparkly and festive just like the mood of the family, and enjoy the wonders of the last few days of December.

FIN.
