Hagrid and Grawp share a comedic moment and Harry wants to laugh
It is very insensitive, but it reminds me of the Giggle Loop from Coupling.
I didn't really like this chapter TBH. It was the funeral of Dumbledore and she should have made it a real occasion to say farewell to him (though I'd be more bothered by this if she hadn't made him so OOC in this book that I actually liked him). Instead it's full of foreshadowingtm and set up for the next book. I assume. It had better all be neccessary.
The bit that irked me in this chapter wasn't that he was even more self-centered, (because I'm cutting him a bit of slack because his mentor just died), it was this line: There was so much he had never asked him, so much he should have said ...
Who thinks like that? Sure, those feelings, but that line could have come out of any bad Mills and Boon book as the Hero explains to the Heroine about his Father's tragic death at the hands of the Bad Guys who want to Thwart their Love.
Never mind the friends who have been with you through thick and thin, or the people who could talk to him about Siirus, or about his parents. Never mind the Weasleys who have been more of a family than he's ever seen. No. Comfort means a warm Ginny.
I admit, this bothered me too. As well as the fact that Harry's too worried to let Ginny go with him on the Horcrux Hunt, but it's fine and well if Ron and Hermione do. I've tried to convince myself, though, that it's just that Harry knew they'd follow anyway. But still... I dunno. It just bothers me, as much as I loved HBP.
Treating her as "the little woman" when everyone's told him over and over that she's a very powerful witch is very disrespectful, imho. I'm hoping she'll come into her own in the next book - without being even more of a Sue, of course, but I'm not holding my breath!
The fact that he doesn't realise that Ginny is a target, whether or not VM knows of their relationship, is madness - didn't he learn ANYTHING from Sirius' death?
Not to mention that Voldemort certainly knows about Ginny--who possessed her when she was eleven, after all? And I believe Diary!Tom taunted Harry about heroically coming to the rescue of the damsel in distress too.
I'm also fairly sure that Voldie is still furious about having that Horcrux destroyed, too. And not being the most rational creature in the world, I think he blames Ginny, at least in part. SHE threw the diary away, which let it fall into Harry's hands, for a while. (No, it's not logical or sane, but I think he'd still blame her as well as Harry.)
absolutely, plus he got into her head for MONTHS, he must know everything he needs to know about the Weasley family, things needed to break into their world, passwords etc etc - scary stuff. However, I doubt very much whether JKR will go down that route, which is a shame because I'd quite like to see polyjuiced Voldemort living with the Weasleys for a while, washing up and having to share a bedroom. argh - trying not to bunny myself.
And calling Bill British? This makes my blood boil. Would Minerva like to be called British? No. He's English, Fleur. English. Sod the political correctness. Double Grrrr.
I have no idea what you're talking about, but it reminds me to be glad that at least one of our sporkers is, ahem, English.
Now I'm off to find somebody to spork whichever chapter it was that went missing.

And I agree, there should have been a solitary moment where Harry could have said goodbye. *stabs him*

Even in the wilds of Norfolk I could hear the collective squee on the day the book came out when the shippers read this bit.
Norfolk? Are you sure it wasn't curlews you heard or something?

He'd never see those twinkly blue eyes twinkle at him every again, never hear that voice, never ruffle his fingers through that beard...
*giggles evilly*
