Title: Endgame

Summary: “Who are you?” Sasuke’s voice is cool and steady. Naruto grins, and in his mind Sasuke is cataloguing lightning fast all the weapons within reach and how quickly he could reach them, because something is screaming not right not right not right -  “I am hatred,” Naruto says with the same disconcerting flash of bone-white teeth ( Read more... )

Okay, so I have been waiting for something like this to come up. It is lovely and harsh, in a way- to me that is the way love or friendship between Naruto and Sasuke should be in the first place.

There are definitely plot holes, like where was everyone else? But I really love when Sasuke dies. It is in such a realistic manner for him. He would be calm or either cursing. But, calm is the right choice for this story.

The only part I sense affection is when Sasuke wipes blood on Naruto's lips, and that has got to be the best part of this story.

I don't know why but the way Dark!Naruto uses kunai instead of attacking with Naruto's normal moves shows the contrast between them. I like that.

I can't really think of anything else right now, so...
Bye~

I totally agreeeee - the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke, romantic or not, is so painfully beautiful. ♥ I'm very happy you thought I captured even a smidgen of that. :3

I'm considering rewriting bits of it to fix the plotholes and lack of Chidori/Rasengan now. S:

Thank you! :3

um. omg, I like this. I'm not too familiar with the latest manga chapters so I'm not exactly sure what Kishimoto's treatment of hatred has been recently but the idea of Naruto trying to kill his hatred and failing strikes me as something Kishimoto would never allow to happen even though it's not possible to do that ;SLADKJF

minor spaz attack out of the way, I absolutely adore your descriptions of Naruto and Sasuke as "two lost boys" - it's so true it's almost painful to go back of the beginning of the series and see Naruto with his mindless optimism and Sasuke's obsessive-compulsive desire for revenge and how no one seems to think there's anything wrong with them even though it's glaringly obvious and practically written out in neon letters - and how Naruto seems to be realizing (or maybe he never actually accepts the realization, god I can't think straight right now sorry) after the fact that it's impossible to kill off such an integral part of his personality. (On a side note, I'm not sure if you answered this in the fic, but is ( ... )

Essentially (spoilers ahead!) Kishi had Naruto fight his 'darker self' in the waterfalls of truth to wrest control over the Kyuubi, and Naruto, um, 'defeats' dark!Naruto by hugging him. Yup. 15 years of being hated gone with a hug. *dies inside*

Yup! I tried to hint at it with 'repression', but am realising that a lot of stuff I hint at in writing is really, really vague. >3<;; haha. Basically the idea I wanted to get across was that repressing hatred for that long is just going to explode in a huge disastrous mess eventually, and that hatred is a natural part of anybody.

I did picture him as 'regaining' control over himself at the end, but with the constant threat of dark!Naruto there and the horror of what he is capable of. :D *is a twisted, twisted person .__.*

I'm so glad you liked it, copious plotholes aside. Thanks! x3

... ;ASLDKFJ that is so ridiculous it actually hurts to think about. I - how does he think of something like that?!

mrrrr, vagueness just makes it all the more fun to read, since it's easier to draw one's own conclusions from vague descriptions in writing than from, say, "This is Naruto. See Naruto be happy. Naruto is also really mad, but he likes to repress his madness. See bad stuff happen when he ends up under the waterfall of truth." ^-^

Also, that's so true. I mean, just look at Sasuke. Granted, he's at least partially insane, but he had absolutely no qualms about announcing to the entire world that he hated Itachi and it still ended up exploding into a huge disastrous mess but there was a lot of outside interference ...

:D! that ... makes me feel ridiculously gleeful. We can be twisted, twisted people together?
