Now that the applause has died down some (I know how excited you all are), I want you to look at this yarn.
When my best friend asked for 'Rockstar' colored yarn I fucking went out and found some 'Rockstar' yarn, right? right? you love it too. It's actually made up of two strands of yarn. And as I was balling it I noticed two things: 1) the strands are different lengths... I don't really understand how that happened but ok 2) the yarn is broken in several places like this
which means I can't use it for the pattern I wanted it for, I will instead be using it for the patterns slightly bulkier twin. The pattern is
Ice Queen, I wanted to make version b, the blue one, but instead I'm having to make the grey pattern.
As I was knit, knit, knitting along I noticed that, despite the one and 1/2 hours it took me to ball this yarn(it was an intense process that involved both hands, both feet and one poor, unsuspecting stuffed animal) the strands were slowly becoming uneven again and the tension was getting too tight for me to knit properly. So I took another hour to separate it into two balls of yarn. I'm about half done with it but I can't bring myself to knit more than about three rounds a night. I'm a little sick of it at the moment. She better fucking love it and I will never work with the yarn again!!!
So while I'm not knitting Satan's Wimple, I cast on a scarf for the other friend's mother on my x-mas list this year. I'm using
this pattern. I know I said I wanted to take a break from cables, but what the fuck, I like cables and I think they are classic and classy and I don't know what else to knit for friends mothers except for cabled scarfs apparently.
I have a notebook that I write down whatever pattern I'm working on because I don't have a printer and it helps me to remember and understand the pattern better if I write it out before I start on it. I got about 3 inches into this pattern when I realize it looked like a row of whale's tails... It was pretty cool, but not what I wanted. I was following my instruction correctly but I had transposed some of the pattern instructions... fucking dyslexia! So I had to frog it and start over... I'm also not to sure about the color of the yarn I choose but I'll give it some more time before I decide to frog it or not.
*deep breath in, deep breath out* I'm getting pretty frustrated with my knitting right now, but it's already December and I left all the scarfs 'till last. I hope I get everything done in time.
