Actually, it seemed like there wasn't any scene that I couldn't believe they would leave out / keep in. Purists I was with agreed. As usual, no quidditch.
that was one of the most pretentious and dead-wrong reviews of anything i've ever read. the author manages to be an obnoxious hipster AND a Potter purist simultaneously. not so much a film critic, though.
Don't kill me, but I wasn't hugely impressed by it as a film. The effects were really great and the wizard fight in particular was excellent, but I left the theater feeling like I had just sat through 2.25 hours of fluff with little in the way of plot explanation or character development. 2.25 hours of extremely fun fluff, but still fluff.

i'm a purist, for sure, and i thought the stuff the chose to leave out was well-selected, and the whole movie hung together well.
