The Triangle of Pain and Death

Nov 15, 2005 23:00

Okay, now I know that most of you who read my blog have already heard my feelings about the whole "triangle symposium" mess. However, most of that was venting. I would like to take this time to thank all my friends... well, most of my friends who listened to me vent my hatred ( Read more... )

Well before you attack the Triangles any further why don't you consider all of the people who are at greater fault. You see they were merely a group, why don't you hate for a while on the faculty who allowed them to form? Why don't you hate for a while on the people who granted their funding. I say once more that the people who should hate the most are in fact the GBC I mean instead of negotiating they're the ones who thought they would just place the entire university under interdict or whatever it is you Baptists do to sanction one another.

Hate? That's such a strong word. head_of_flame November 16 2005, 15:57:56 UTC
I didn't say I hated the members of the triangle. I said I despised them, which is a more short-lived sort of thing. But believe me, I have enough anger left over for the members of the faculty who allowed them to hold their "National Coming Out Day" festivities, which started this whole mess. If it hadn't been for that ill advised move, we might all still be living in peace. Thus, Dr. Godsey is receiving some of my ire as well.

Okay I'm not gonna pull punches. We can call the GBC whatever we want for pulling ties with Mercer. But the fact still stands. Alex may not be here because the triangle symposium decided to throw alternate lifestyles into people's faces and got the GBC involved. Now in their defense they as a group have the right to do that under the first amendment. We can't censor them. However this is a private BAPTIST university, funded by private donations to a large degree, IN THE FREAKING SOUTH! That's like me a young black man attending Bob Jones University. I'm not going to go somewhere where I am going to be scrutinized just to make a point. So why bother coming to a Baptist University in the South that has a reputation for being liberal minded but is still in effect run by BAPTISTS who don't believe in what they're emphasizing!? You have to expect to be isolated to some degree because of your beliefs if you are a member of this symposium due to these factors. Seems to me if you had a grain of sense you would go with going to a more "liberal ( ... )

See? That's what I'm saying. head_of_flame November 16 2005, 16:01:45 UTC
Thank you, Kellen. I at least know that I still have one friend at Mercer. Your post summed up my entire reasoning for placing the blame mainly on the symposium. I didn't really bother to write it out in the post, mainly because I didn't know exactly what to say. I figured it would be rather apparent to most people, but apparently I was wrong. Thanks for your sympathy.

What the hell Alex? I mean, seriously, what the hell? Do you ever, EVER think about anybody other than yourself? A good half of my friends won't be back next year if their Baptist scholarships are pulled. Gee, you're suffering so much. Get a damn life and grow up a little.

Strong words from a strong woman head_of_flame November 16 2005, 16:07:29 UTC
Huh, that's pretty strong language for you, Chey, so I take it you are genuinely angry at me. Well, I'm sorry. Now, if you read the the last lines of this post, you will notice I referenced five other students on campus with my specific situation. That doesn't mean that I don't feel for the other people with Baptist scholarships, it simply means that I have the most sympathy for my fellow MKs. It's a harder life, trust me. And, as far as thinking of anyone other than myself, who's LJ is this? It's mine, of course, and thus it's where I post my thoughts and rants that relate to myself. However, to answer your question, yes, I do care quite a bit about other people. It just depends on the people in question. Now forgive me if I offended, but this post is an honest statement of my feelings. Bye.

Alex, I think I might be going crazy. Did you make a post earlier today and then delete it?
