A simple header tutorial with PSP

Sep 23, 2006 20:59

I posted this tutorial in a Spanish icons community some months ago and I think it's a good idea to share it with you :)
That's a very simple/beginner tutorial but the results I think are quite good.
(Sorry for my English it's not my mother tongue)

How you can do this:

We need:

- Some related icons. In headers like this one I always use three icons but this is your personal choice. You can make the icons or you just can take them from another icons site (ALWAYS credit the artist). These Orlando Bloom ones are from the talented nialish_icons

- A pair of beautiful textures. Or a texture and some brushes. one texture used as a background and the other as a brush to decorate the header. In this header I’ve used two textures from the genial gender HERE and HERE.

- A bit of imagination and a bit of inspiration ;) Open a white background 500x300 px. Paste the texture and begin to make your header combining the texture, icons and brushes.

You can adjust the shades of the texture to fit them with the colours of the icons. In this case, I’ve used the option Adjust - Hue and Saturarion - Colorize to turn the texture into grey shades so it fits better with the icons.

I hope you like it and it’s helpful for you. Any questions feel free to ask. You can see that it’s so easy!
