It was a rather chilly-looking Pepper who approached. She -- shock of shocks -- had her hair down and was bundled up in a nice coat she'd invested in upon moving here. This didn't preclude the fact that she was wearing one of her favorite little black dresses under it, and heels, though she'd thrown Ray a figurative bone and gone with a shorter pair than usual. She didn't want to have to slouch the whole evening to keep from being taller than him.
"That car of yours, lovely as it is, better have heat," she greeted him, smiling widely. "Hi."
"Hi," he grinned, pulling open the passenger side door. Hey, Ray had to keep some kinda chivalry thing going here. "Yeah, I, uh, I got heat. Chicago winters get cold."
"Yeah, Malibu? Not so much," she said, sliding in with a smile. She couldn't remember the last time someone held a door for her. Probably the last time she was around anyone military. "Thank you."
He shut the door behind her, then hurried over to the other side. Some good habits picked up from Fraser right there.
His driving was still better, though.
Ray slipped in the drivers seat and quickly started the damn car while it was still mostly ice-free from his attack earlier. "Man, Malibu, you gotta be freezing up here," he said.
