MHA #5, Saturday Morning

It was morning, and Ray was going through his morning ritual of pouring some coffee, chucking in some M&Ms, and double-checking that he hadn't turned into a girl, a pink elephant, or a mountie or something over night.

He liked to call this the Sanity Check. As long as he kept doing the Sanity Check, he had not gone crazy

Ugh, this was the worst part of having a job like this. Talks like these.

Pepper had dressed, gone over her paperwork for the day, and generally stalled before making her way to Ray's apartment and knocking lightly.

Took Ray a moment or two to realise someone was knocking 'cause of the music, but he put down his mug and went, obediently, for the door.

Opened it up. "Hey, Pepper," he said, grinning lightly. "Uh, sorry. Didn't clean." Some of the labels were falling off his stuff, even.

She gave him a small smile, leaning in the doorway. "It's okay. You're forgiven just this once. Um. I need to talk to you about something?"

... Those were not good words.

"...Sure," Ray said, kinda stepping aside. "Come in, I'll get you some coffee or something."
