Summary: After an eventful night at the restaurant, Donghae wants to do the same.
"Will you marry me?"
Donghae stared dumbfounded, to the table on their left as the guy on his knees pulled out a velvet box and said those four fateful words. The entire restaurant seemed to hold it's breath, and it was as if everyone had frozen. Suddenly, the sobbing of the girl next to Donghae broke the spell, and as she leapt up and flung her arms around the man's neck, everyone cheered in the restaurant, and applause rang in the air for quite awhile. Donghae turned to Eunhyuk with shining eyes, to find his boyfriend dabbing at his eyes with a moist towelette.
"Wasn't that beautiful?" Eunhyuk blubbered, looking at Donghae with those sappy eyes that made him want to laugh and sweep Eunhyuk up and kiss him senseless all at the same time. Donghae simply smiled back, and was quiet for the rest of dinner.
As they walked home, Eunhyuk noticed that Donghae had on a contemplative look that had been on his face from the time that the couple at the restaurant got engaged.
"Is something the matter?" He asked Donghae, and the latter suddenly stopped in his tracks, turning to face Eunhyuk, who looked back in surprise.
"Do you want to elope? Run away, get married," Donghae asked Eunhyuk, large-eyed and intense, his voice full of eagerness and hope, laced with hesitation, and something else. Eunhyuk's heart nearly stopped right there, and his eyes widened to the size of saucerplates for quite some time before assuming their normal shape as he smiled softly.
"Now, whatever gave you that idea," he toyed with Donghae, smiling up at him through his eyelashes, trying to hide the burble of joy and anticipation that was quickly making its way through his veins. What he really wanted to do was to scream, yell, declare to the world how deliriously happy Donghae had made him, just by saying those words.
"Eunhyuk, I'm serious. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, somewhere where we can get away from all those prying eyes into our lives, somewhere where I can love you freely. Eunhyuk, I can't live without you, and I want to marry you," Donghae stated, looking into Eunhyuk's eyes with a kind of earnest fervour, unabashed hope and a hint of fear that what they were going to do meant that there would be no confirmed endings, no plans, and no assurances. All this Eunhyuk knew as he flung his arms around Donghae's neck, not unlike that woman at the restaurant, and wept for joy into his soon-to-be husband's shirt, but yet he would do it. As Donghae's arms embraced Eunhyuk tightly, as if he would never let him go, Eunhyuk knew, without a doubt, that he was willing to take that risk, because as long as they were together, even the worse wouldn't matter as much anymore.
