It had been weird, waking up next to a body when it had been so long since she’d last done so. The fact that it was another woman added to the weirdness of everything, but the fact that it was the ship’s doctor who she’d assumed more or less hated her solidified it into being the weirdest thing that she had ever been a part of. She had a vague ( Read more... )

If it had been convenient, someone else would've had to check on Gabriella. But it wasn't, and so Lena had to face her, it would seem. Not that that was awful. Gabriella was a sweet girl. But a sweet girl Lena had incomprehensibly done not-so-sweet things with. Worse, it hadn't even been good enough, evidentally, to warrant sticking around for breakfast. And damn, if that didn't just make Lena feel more undesireable. Life was a bitch.

Sighing, she grabbed a PADD and approached Gabriella's bedside, looking at the woman's vitals rather than her face. "You've not been takin' care of yourself, Gray."

It hadn't even been anything like that. She had enjoyed it. More than she thought she ever would. It had been such a delight after not having been with anyone for so long. But she'd panicked, and freaked out, which was why she had left. And, the guilt for doing so had been part of why she had tried to keep away. She hadn't wanted to make Lena feel undesirable. Never. But...she just thought that Lena would never have wanted her under any normal circumstances, and she didn't want things to be awkward.

Gabriella had only been back awake for a few minutes when Lena came in. She'd had enough time to sit up though, and take the glass of water from her bedside table that she was now sipping through a straw. She felt parched, but freezing at the same time, something made evident by her shivering, despite the fact that she was sweating. She sunk down again without a word, and sniffed, looking up at the other woman. "...it's just a bug."

"Uh-huh, where did you get your medical degree?" Lena arched an eyebrow at her, pointedly, before turning to a nearby supply cabinet and getting out a thicker blanket. Most crew members, she would be just maternal enough to wrap them up in it, if they were this sick. But, assuming her and Gray were on terrible terms, she just sat it, still folded, gently on her legs. "There ya go. Now, when did this start?"

"The Internet?" she offered, because while she had been the one to start the avoidance, the cold shoulder that she was currently getting from Lena wasn't something she was enjoying, especially not while ill. It wasn't as though she expected to be coddled, but something she'd hoped for. Instead she shrugged her shoulders as she had to lean down to get the blanket, trying hard, and failing to not let her lips form into a pout as she sniffed. "bout a week ago?"
