It hadn't quite been what he'd thought, seeing her again; she looked older than he'd expected, her skin sun-darkened, her face more serious. But she was still Jill, and he let her lead him where she wanted, into an old linen cupboard with shelves along one side. "You do know there are about a hundred actual rooms in this house," he chuckled, settling back against the shelves with his hands in his pockets.

"I don't care," she said before she swallowed hard. "The boys - they told you, didn't they? I mean, everything?"

She licked her lips, and made as if to stuff her hands in her pockets - which ended up not even existing, so she just made a rather silly hand motion. "The Island, and everything?" She was looking at him in a peculiar way, but she ducked her head for a moment. "I've been there for nearly three years, Scrubb."

"Yeah," he allowed, his head canting to one side. "Yeah, they said. It's... it's all a bit mad, but no madder than anything else we've done, I suppose." He shrugged one shoulder, the smile tugging up one side of his mouth both fond and familiar. "It's good to see you," he admitted softly. "I can't say why, but it feels like it's been longer than it has."

She took two steps, and then she was hugging him as close as she possibly could. "Eustace-" The word sort of jumped from her lips, and she pressed her face against his neck. Much to her own dismay, her eyes stung. "You've no idea just how much I missed you. For me, I've not seen you in two years."
