[Private to Minerva, Remus, and Filius]
Marietta Edgecombe's recovery is continuing apace -- about as rapidly as I expected, really. There does not seem to be any lasting nerve damage, apart from a slight facial tic that I am more willing to attribute to anxiety than any physical cause. Her real-time memory is still fading in and out, but the lapses are brief and occur farther and farther apart. A casual observer might even view the episods as mere forgetfulness or absent-mindedness, and not for the temporary amnesia that they are. She has not eaten much over the weekend, but I expect that her body will let her know when it is ready to make up for the missed meals.
I do want to warn you, though, that I've noticed a sudden change in her mood. She specifically asked me not to permit visitors until further notice, and I've been complying with the request and turning away anyone who has stopped by today. I can only guess from the way she is acting that the blocked memories have indeed returned...and that they are causing no small amount of emotional upset. She hasn't said a thing to me about what she remembers, but she has been curled up in bed nearly all day, barely moving, refusing food -- and I've heard her trying to hide the fact that she has been crying. She wrote a letter to her mother earlier in the day, and as I was taking it out of the room to have a house elf send it to the Owlery, she turned over and simply buried herself under the bedclothes.
I will be spending the night in the main ward, just outside her door, to keep an eye on her.
I also spoke to Percy Weasley on Sunday, and he informed me that he was only told to deliver the potion to Hogwarts. No instructions about administering it, no cautions about what the potion was or what it could do. He had not read the note that should have been attached to it -- the note that would have instructed Miss Edgecombe to take the potion only under medical supervision. I suppose that's as much as I expected, but it is something of a relief to know that his actions were those of ignorance and not of willful neglect. Miss Edgecombe or her mother would have a legal right to file a claim against the Ministry for gross negligence (and endangering the welfare of a child), but I highly doubt anything would come of it even if they were to take action.
I will let you know more toward the end of the week.

This school is in desperate need of a counselor. Better yet, a small army of counselors, therapists, emotional Healers....people who are trained to do the things that I can't. People who would know what to do, what to say, how to bring all these bottled-up emotions out into the open to start the healing process. All these festering wounds left untreated. All these half-healed sores that are being broken open over and over again.
Really, it's enough to make a Healer despair.
