Summary: Snow had always hated the rain, but then something happened that made her change her mind.
The rain made Snow sad. It had rained everyday for the past week and that made her sad. It meant she couldn't go out to play.
There was never anything to do in the house, and a small kitten like her needed to move around and play. Not moving around made her bored. And being bored made her sad.
“Mom, would you play with me?” She asked her mother this morning.
“Not now dear, I have to finish cooking.” Her mother replied.
So she sulked away to find her father.
“Dad, would you play with me?” She asked her father.
“Not now honey, I have to go to work now.” Her father replied.
Sulking again she sat down on the floor. But then something happened. When she looked up, she found that the little flap on the door was open. Her father had forgotten to seal the flap that morning! Now she could go out!
She laughed and started to sprint outside, but she stopped on the porch. There, on the grass near her house was a small grey puppy. It was looking at her. She started to walk towards it all the while staring with big, wide eyes. It was a puppy! A real puppy! She had never been near one before.
“Are you a puppy?” She asked as she neared it.
“I am. Are you one too?” The puppy replied.
Snow shook her head, “No, I’m a cat. Don’t you know what cats are?”
The puppy looked surprised, “I’ve never seen a cat before.”
“And this is my first time talking to a puppy. Are you new here?” She asked out of curiosity.
“I was born last week.” The puppy replied.
“What is your name?” Snow asked again.
“I don’t remember mine yet.” The puppy looked sad.
“Oh. Your parents should know!” She brightened up, “Where do you live?”
The puppy looked even sadder, “I don’t know.”
Snow was sad now. What should she do? Suddenly, she had an idea and quickly ran inside.
Soon, her mother came out to see the puppy, “Come on inside, we’ll look for your parents now.”
The puppy wagged its tail and followed Snow and her mother inside.
It was warm there. He was given food, and played with Snow all day.
Later that evening, when Father got home, he came with good news. Mother had been right! A little puppy had gone missing that morning in the neighborhood. And guess who he had brought with him?
A small boy followed Father, and the puppy was ecstatic to see him. But Snow looked sad. The puppy suddenly felt sad too. He didn’t know why, but seeing Snow sad made him sad.
“Now Snow, he’ll be back to play with you tomorrow.” Mother smiled.
Snow instantly perked up, “Really?” She sounded so happy.
“Yeah.” The puppy replied and looked to the boy who was holding him.
“I’ll be happy to bring Rain over to play again tomorrow.” The boy smiled too.
“Rain?” Snow asked the puppy.
“And you’re Snow.” Rain replied.
From that day onwards, Snow never hated the rain again. And Rain and Snow became the best of friends.
