This week in review

It was an up and down week for me. I started out great, preparing my snacks and lunches for work, etc. But I didn't work out like I wanted to on Tuesday. On Thursday I had a great workout on the ellipse machine...and walking the dog, but then I started slacking on the food. I wasn't eating bad, but I wasn't tracking, and I had to hit the taco bell ( Read more... )

I have started keeping track of my food intake--not calories, but what I'm eating. I've found that if I just focus on two days, taking a few days off, and then going back to it, I'm more apt to stay on track.

Yeah, I need to think of it that way. I'm sure I'd stick it out if I didn't feel like I was a failure at tracking myself. But if I just do what I can and continue that, it will look like I'm doing a lot eventually. Darn it! I'm GOING TO FILL THAT LITTLE BOOK!!!

Remember--progress, not perfection. You need to mess up every so often so you learn not to do that next time. If you're going to be changing your life rather than just "going on a diet," this is a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself. You don't need to be perfect every day, and you can't let little trip ups be your excuse for giving up.

As far as exercise goes, I read somewhere that doing something 10 times makes it a habit, doing something 100 times makes it an ingrained part of your routine. 10 workouts of any kind will get you in the mind (and body set) to just keep up with it; 100 workouts will make it second nature to you. So yes, the more Xs you see on your calendar the more established your exercise habit will be.

Good luck! You can do it!

You're right. I don't want to give up this time. I need to stick to the plan..and accept the mess ups.

I read that too (only I thought it was 15 times. I like 10 better!). It's so true! I did that about flossing my teeth back before I had GIa..and it really stuck (until I had Gia and was so sleep deprived!). I'm hoping to make it to 100 workouts!

Thank you!
:)
