Hey guys!
*taps shoulder*
Guys!
*taps shoulder again*
Guuuuuuuuuuuys!
*jumps up and down on toes to peer over shoulders*
Hey! *waves and lets out a great sigh of relief and overexcitement*
Look at this! Look at this! Did you see it?

It's the Rose Window.
And not just any rose window, but, I kid you not, the exact same freakin' rose window used in Sin City.
Anna before rose window in 4;09
Andy before rose window in 3;04
The visual parallels make me wonder about any possible associations being drawn between Anna and Andy - "God has abandoned us." Has God abandoned Anna, then? But then there was
fairly strong evidence that parallels were being drawn between Andy and the PsyKids and it's pretty evident that Anna is psychic, what with the bureau-moving and listening in on angels. Does the parallel go further than this? What is the source of Anna's powers? Is she destined for death as was Andy and the PsyKids? Hmmm...
I find it interesting, too, that the major theme of Sin City was about choice and temptation and here in I Know What You Did Last Summer, again we are presented with Sam and his choices in the face of temptation.
I thought maybe the re-use of the Rose Window might have been secondary to difficulty finding those kinds of huge rose windows in North America, much less the Vancouver area, but, then again, look at this:
*blink*
Noooooo waaaay. Is it? *peers at promotional material on the table by Dean*
It IS!! It's The Blue Rose Motel.
Blue Rose Motel in Season 2: Hunted
Hunted, in which we meet Ava and learn of
her association with blue roses.
And if that didn't rock your socks off, not only that, but then there's this:
Ava in front of blue rose wallpaper in Hunted
Housekeeping!Ruby in I Know What You Did Last Summer
*blink*
Uh, guys? Is that a picture of blue flowers that I see behind housekeeping!Ruby?
Well, daaaaaaaaaaaaaaang. Isn't THAT interesting!
Hmmm. Remember this?
Red flower in the motel room in which we meet Ruby again in Lazarus Rising
Well, well, well, well, well.
It's my theory that flowers are associated with secrets, as per
sadelyrate 's "sub rosa" and my own speculation that
flowers unfold petal by petal, uncovering that which is hidden at the center. Hunted's themes definitely centered on Sam attempting to find out more about his destiny and introduced Ava, about whom much unfolded over the course of Season 2. Sam certainly revealed a lot he had kept hidden in this episode, but all these blue flowers associated with Ruby really make me wonder what secrets have yet to be revealed about HER.

p.s. On a very side note, did you notice that Sam's feet were squarely inside a Devil's Trap when he pulled away from Ruby's sexual advances? That means that she voluntarily imprisoned herself in the trap to go to him. She's playing a very interesting game, is our Ruby.
