Wow....2 days ago was absolutely amazing.
EHEM.
So we start our day checking into a hotel in Austin,TX at about 6:30am after a drive from Baytown, TX, which left a bad taste in our mouths after a rather lousy turnout to the show. We all bring our luggage to the room and rest easy knowing we had a day off ahead of us. we talk about heading to Houston to promote a show there in a couple days or maybe just sitting around and really take the day off. Thats when Hunter suggests that we go to the Fall Out Boy/All American Rejects/Hawthorne Heights/From First To Last show and try and sneak into the show. The show just happento be in Austin. Im not gonna lie. I just kinda rolled my eyes a bit and said to myself "Do you really think thats gonna work dude? its not worth it..." But for some reason we just headed out to the show, if for any reason, just to spread our name around all of these kids with a semi-similar taste in music. As were driving up to the show, we see see the space where all of the ginorma-busses our parked. Hunter turns the wheel and parks our conversion van right next to these giant busses. We all start getting excited. We see the gate where all of the bands enter backstage and its being heavily gaurded by a Mr T look-a-like (it MIGHT have been him...not sure). We become hesistant at this point and try and gather ideas as to how we get in. We come up with the idea to show our dinky tour passes and HOPE it works. We begin our stride towards the gates of oppourtunity and try to maintain poise. Girls could see us walking and thought we were with one of the bands and started screaming. It looked good for credibility. Mr T had a mean stare through those dark shades and oddly shaven beard. We begin to walk right passed him and he lets us know he sees us. "Excuse me gentlemen, your passes?" Hunter throws out his Broken Image tour pass and the rest of us follow....AND IT WORKED!! "Alright, Go'on Gentlemen" we walk right to the back of the stage, all of us calling people we know to share our excitement and to keep us from doing backflips. We start recognizing everybodyy...patrick (lead singer, FOB) Sonny warming up his voice, lead singer of hawthorne heights. We find a courtyard were the bands and roadies are eating and hanging out and we take a seat to try and blend. The show starts and we listen to FFTL, and HH from behind the stage. Thats when oppourtunity knocks. Pete Wentz sits down 2 tables away from us. Were all thinking the same thing but dont have the balls to do it. We keep calling each other wusses for not going and talking to him but none of us could do it. We finally talk travis into going up and asking if he has a second to talk to us. HE agrees with a smile and heads over to the table. ok. so. BROKEN IMAGE IS ON ONE SIDE OF THE TABLE AND PETE WENTZ IS ON THE OTHER. he breaks the ice with a casual "Whats up guys" and we let our tension out with girly smiles and half spoken responses. We gather our composer and start pitching ourselves to him. "Were big fans of your label, and we'd really appreciate it if you took a listen to our music." He takes our cd and makes fun of trhe fact that we didnt even write or contact information on the cd. We all kinda wanted to smack our faces for that one. He connects with us by telling stroies about how FOB used to hand there CDs out all of the time. We even told him how we snuck backstage and he laughed and said they used to do the same thing. He told us he'd give it a listen and call us to let us know what he thought. the tour manager finds out we snuck backstage and was about to kick us out but then decides to just let us into the show. So. We gave our CD to Pete Wentz and then saw an 80 dollar show for free. Quite the day off if you ask me.
