Guardian Entry 99: On Our Own? [Locked to Hinata Inn/Silver Dragon]

May 28, 2010 01:12

Sounds like we're on our own.

I'm gonna try to find some sort of protection for us. By the looks of it, we can't trust DATS to protect us when we need it.

I know I've offered the New Guardians' aid to them when the time comes, but... I'm starting to reconsider that bit. Especially if it means leaving home unprotected.

...

This is a REAL big

If they need help and we're in the clear, somehow... I don't want to leave them hanging. I don't want to be a hypocrite.

I hate this so much.

I hate this, too. But, I don't know what else to do.

What's the phrase? Damned if we do, damned if we don't?

Exactly. I hope they at least listened to me. Ugh, I feel like I exploded back there, but...I had to say something.

I think you did the right thing. Someone had to let them know what's going on somehow...

Eh...sorry Sami but I'd lose my superhero license if I didn't help out wherever needed. It's part of the gig ya know?

Lame.

I know I know it sucks sometimes but...they're good people at DATS. If it were up to them we wouldn't be in this tight spot to begin with, it's Ravemon we should be ticked at.

Beast Boy, there's a difference between protecting our home when the time comes and running off to Axoryi because they asked.

I'm not bound by the Oracle to do his bidding and I'm only a Secondary with DATS - just a part-timer.

I'll take my chances when the time comes.

Look, I'm no expert on the situation. But...

.... We're in the thick of everything and they aren't exactly out of danger either.

Tetha is a sovereign nation. A hostile sovereign nation to its own people, let alone outside powers.

They leap to our defense, and the war is triggered, ma'am. It goes hot. In a way, leaving is the smartest thing we could do. If it weren't for the fact that we can discover information by acting on the inside, we wouldn't have any defensible reason to remain.

I'm not against honor before reason, but... it's not our fault or everyone else's that Ravemon up and changed the rules.

Kurata attacked this place.

Doctor Doom attacked this place.

LOT attacked this place.

We were kicked out by Xellos and Bowser.

All of those times, we stood our ground.

I think we can take a chance.

Um... if this one might...

Precisely, what, is DATS supposed to do this deep into the city? If Ravemon, and thus his entire military force is your enemy...

By all accounts, this one would not yet think they have the military force to combat that. Coming in HERE, NOW, would be a poor choice of action for any military commander.

By all indications, all this one sees is them telling you to leave. If you do not listen to that advice, no military force has responsibility to protect those who will not listen to them.

This one has seen much war. Much bloodshed. Seeing that avoided would certainly be preferable.

I'm not asking DATS to come barging in here right now. Right now, I'm saying that we need to hunker down. I'm sure others have already taking Commander Satsuma's suggestion and left town.

But, as Terra's pointed out - this is our home. This is all that's left of Team W.I.T.C.H.'s legacy! DATS wasn't here the last five or so times to help protect it - it was us! What makes a difference now?

If it comes to it, we'll run. But as it stands?

I, Princess Sasami Masaki Jurai-Lin, am not leaving my home.

You are, actually, incorrect. This one has done research - the attack by the one called Jeremy, as well as one last year before this one appeared... and the year before that by Professor Kurata.

DATS appeared in all those instances, in some capacity or another, to defend this city.

This city, in and of itself, is larger than just your home, and the world larger still.

You can do as you wish, but you cannot post the blame upon others for not doing anything.

And before you ask: Why could they appear then, but not now?

The invading forces were smaller than Ravemon's army, but still large enough to put up a fight against them. DATS, while smaller STILL, could lend a hand and be enough to turn the tide in that direction.

Even a country with questionable intent is hard pressed to shun another force lending a hand to defend its people.

Attacking Ravemon's army outright, on the other hand... is another matter entirely.
