I could definitely see you as a social worker, or any job like that involving guiding and helping others with true sincerity. Hopefully after researching some you're able to decide which career you'd like to choose. And, of course, you don't have to decide now. =)

Thanks for the compliment and for the hope. I hope you find a career that truly suits you, too, that involves a sense of fulfillment.

I started college when I was 45 and my major was Human Services/Social Work. The divorce came along after 3 semesters so I had to leave and never did get back to it ( ... )

What was your career prior to college? Was Judy a friend before she entered rehab, or a patient you met working there? Sorry to hear about her death. Your heart must have sank hearing about it.

I heard being a social worker in the US is more draining and less fulfilling than in other countries through internet forums because it involves more load of paperwork due to the government always revising rules or something. Well, at least compared to the other mentioned countries (Belguim and some other, I forgot). And I heard from many that it can be draining failing in trying to make a difference. I like your viewpoint in not giving up.

Yes, I'd rather work with abused people, too. Definitely with people who do want to get in a somewhat better atmosphere.

Thank you. So what career are you pursuing as of now?

Don't worry about it being long. I enjoyed reading it.

You know what? I've always admired stay-at-home moms for their intense dedication to their kid(s) and the strive to put the care of their kids in front of working. I've always thought it would make such a difference to the child/children.

It seems like you've had many careers in the past. You must have learned a lot about yourself going through so many careers. And being promoted from a salad lady to the director so soon! Wow, you must have been really hardworking. MGM is a really nice place. I remember going there when I was really young.

I hope whatever choice you make, going back to college or not/Human Resource or something else, you will be happy in the long run. =)
