I've watched a few movies in the last couple days... and now i'm going to tell you about them

Ah Sweeney Todd. I've been wanting to watch this movie for a while. It has a lot of appealing qualities right off the bat. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in yet another Tim Burton film. This is a tried and true formula for a good movie. In addition it ( Read more... )

The anti-Christian vibe a lot of people were talking about might be about the book series as a whole. I read them as a kid, and basically they are about going to war with God. The books do show a lot of negativity towards religion as a whole and don't actually pull any punches when it comes to saying so. Pulman admits outwardly that he is an atheist, but the way he writes has always appealed to my beliefs as an agnostic/humanist. Personally, I enjoy the amount of theological and philosophical discussion Pulman wrote into what appear to be, from the outside, children's fantasy novels. I highly recommend reading them.

Spiderman 3 was a funny movie and I enjoyed it. But I didn't go in pretending that Spiderman movies where ever some kind of great cinema worthy of veneration. Other people seemed to think the movie was supposed to be some series work of fiction, as though the previous films had been Oscar-fodder.

I thought the ending was a bit on the lame side, being just too predictable and bland. On the other hand James Franco really made me have a good time with his Harry Osborn performance. And emo Peter Parker was hilarious, especially when he mussed his hair in the mirror.
