Hmmmm. Teen Titans is still near the top of the list of DCnU titles I'm side-eying hard. It actually has the potential to be really interesting - going back to the characters meeting for the first time and seeing their relationships grow all over again could be fun, but only if they're recognisable as the same characters, and I'm not 100% sure that will be the case. I have this sneaking suspicion that Bart might be a more hyperactive version of Wally from the current Young Justice Animated cartoon (I also think we'll be seeing more of toon!Superboy in DCnU!Kon). I'm bummed about losing his Impulse past, especially because taking on the name Kid Flash was a big deal, and now he's using that name right off the bat. I just hope any Impulse-ness on his part is written as funny and kind of snarky but also adorable, rather than obnoxious ( ... )

It's one of the one's released at SDCC, and I think it probably is an earlier design. I think it's in the interview I linked (if not, a very similar one) where the interviewee mentions the deliberate choice to lose the whole head cowl because it made him look too old.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I agree with their decision to change that aspect of the design - full cowls do tend to make characters seem older. But maybe that's just an individual preference on my part, because I don't think any teenager designing their own costume would willingly cover their hair in a way that would give them the worst case of hat hair ever! XD

(As you might imagine, I'm extremely pleased Tim is losing his cowl to go back to a domino mask.)

I think that costume is way too busy. With some tweaking that'd be fixed, but it doesn't really feel very Bart. It feels much "harder" than Bart is, if that makes sense. But maybe it'll be a bit more playful in context.

I also feel like the writers have forgotten that Bart was never a sidekick, he was a next generation hero. We'll see.

I really don't know about this reboot maybe it's just the advertising but it's looking like everyone is the darkest angstiest most "adult" version of themselves they could make. And I swear I swear I swear I don't mind the introduction of new characters in general but WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE AND WHY IS ROSE GONE! (Also Steph, Cass, Miss Martian, Anita, Cissie, Solstice, etc.)

It seems to me that the YJ-retcon stuff is all editorial mandate, and not the writer's idea at all. From what I've seen of Scott Lobdell's interviews, he plans to write a Bart that's kind of a mix of YJ-Bart and Geoff-Titans-Bart. This makes me happy, enough so that I can forgive a costume that doesn't look quite right to me. I'm mostly just a little saddened by the lack of huge fluffy hair, 'cause it's always the epitome of Bart's appearance to me.

For the most part, I'm looking forward to Teen Titans. (Mostly 'cause I suspect that it and "Red Hood and the Outlaws" might be the only things worth picking up after the reboot sweeps through like a proverbial hurricane.)

The thing that has me really confused and nervous is that apparently, Barry Allen and Iris West never got married in the DCnU. And if not, then how can Bart be their grandson from the future who grew up in virtual reality and hero-worships his Flash grandfather? And if he's not, how can he be BART?

Either they don't mind telegraphing the fact Barry and Iris are going to get together, or there's going to be some kind of 'secret baby' plot a la Mills & Boon at some point.

(I know it's terrible, but I'd actually kinda like to see the secret baby version, just for the crack)
