Are you saying that the oath and the debt won't be enough to help you and all around you remember you're a doctor? :)

No, just that i've sometimes considered getting a tattoo but couldn't find anything that I was committed to enough to make it worth getting for the rest of my life. ;)

On the other hand, figent_figary has jokingly said to me a few times that the only reason she didn't drop out of residency was that she'd be embarrassed to explain her staff of aesculapius tattoo as a waitress. So a little insurance never hurts!

hmm, that first sentiment might be interesting for your wife, and/or your child :)
your design sounds neat, and if you two end up with similar-but-not-strictly-matching tats, that's also kinda cool.

Well, that's a commitment to a particular person - it's spelled out in the ketubah which is floating somewhere around in Hebrew and english. So there's already a contract in place on that one :).

And I've always thought it was tacky to get someone else's name written on your body. Probably just the aftereffect of seeing too many lovesick teens and young adults getting involved with the wrong people and being stuck with "I <3 Kilroy" when they really wish Kilroy would contract a really bad case of ringworm and turn into a giant fungal colony.

I didn't know she had one. That's pretty sweet. :)

Yours sounds awesome.

Sounds like a gr4eat design.

As, or more important than the design, is the artist that does it.

It doesn't matter if you love the intricacies if the artist goes too deep/shallow, or sizes it so small that the lines run together after 10 years on your body.
