technology hates me again

I have finally managed to salvage my laptop from the bad place it went to, (when I say "I" what I mean is I persuaded someone, muy lovely flatmate, to do it for me) but nothing is working right yet, also I have lost everyone's mail addresses and all my digital photos so I am pretty pissed off

Ouch. Losing photos is the most annoying thing ever ! (Mine were lost for me by my old digital camera's storage card at one point.)
