To my little tiny group! Let's have a discussion! We'll start with one of my favorite things, contests! In general, what do you think about them? Specifically, do you like Hoenn or Sinnoh ones better?
When Contests first debuted in the show, they were initially very well received. They had replaced the fillers that plagued Johto and gave the female protagonist a goal for the first time. As AG progressed, Haruka became more popular than Kasumi and the Contests became such a hit that the writers made them a staple of the franchise, and Haruka was consistently brought back into the series because of it

I love the contests; I think they added a really interesting alternate dynamic to the games, and widened what was possible for Pokemon trainers to do. Just like in the anime when they introduced Pokemon Watchers and what not (which, personally, I hope is another side-thing that will be added in a future game although I don't know how they would do it, or maybe an aid Officer Jenny, Phoenix Wright-style kind of investigation, aaah

Ack, I meant to add this in; but I actually think that this is why contests were removed from B/W -- because they're going to be in the Hoenn remakes, and having a brand new version in B/W could take attention away from the celebratory 'Hoenn returns, home of the contests!' thing, you know?
...You can buy Poffin in Platinum? I did not know that...
Haha, I personally hated the anti-heart moves of Hoenn. Until pretty recently I was a very sensitive and easily upset child so being directly attacked when I wasn't doing anything to them made me soooo angry.
But now I kinda want to start on Emerald and try and get all ribbons possible!
Hmmm... Well, I have an opposing opinion on the validity of Hoenn remakes but I would throw that out the window if I could just have contests back! I'd like to believe that, but the fact that you can't even view ribbons or the sheen coupled with Feebas' alternate evolution really dampens my hopes..
Hello broken small tag. Let's try that again. (It said it wanted to delete ALL my posts, so I'm not messing with le x button.)

Hey, that's a good idea! Let's not only discuss contest and coordinators, but that of gender roles and how they are portrayed in contests!
