"Maybe you can help me out," Chris said a moment later, and stood up straight.
"Help with what?" Dree asked, still turning the glass in her hands.
"Since you're clearly not looking," Chris started, motioning to her hand again. Dree frowned and looked at him, once again confused. "And, everything I thought I knew about pick-up lines is right out the window..." he continued, waving toward the wall.
Dree bit her lip and smiled. "And how do you know I'm not looking?" She raised an eyebrow when he grinned. "I've heard that you want the one you can't have. Maybe," she shrugged and held up her left hand, "I'm not wearing this to scare off strange men. Maybe," she smiled, eyebrows raised, "I'm wearing it to attract strange men ( ... )

Chris grinned and reached for the first shot glass. "Favorite color?"
"Blue," Dree answered. It wasn't exactly a hard question, after all. Well, she could have gone into detail about which specific blue, but what was the point, really? Chris smiled and leaned back, still holding on to the bar.
"Green," he said simply and shrugged. Dree's eyebrows went up slightly and she forced a smile before reaching for one of the shot glasses. They each downed the small bit of liquid and Chris stared at the bar for a moment, choosing his next question.
"Favorite vegetable?" Dree opened her mouth and promptly closed it. Glancing away, she blinked for a moment and turned back to Chris.
"Um, green beans." Now, it was Chris' turn to raise an eyebrow.
"Green beans... huh," he nodded, "not the answer I was expecting."
Dree's eyes narrowed and she leaned against the bar again. "What were you expecting?" Chris laughed and shook his head ( ... )

"Isn't there something in the back for you to BeDazzle," Dree got out through gritted teeth. Jack just smiled and pushed off the counter. He moved down the bar and came around to stand next to Chris. Winking at Dree, he passed a slip of paper toward Chris.
"Good luck," he said and ducked away as Dree chucked a lemon slice at him. Chris glanced at the piece of paper and raised an eyebrow. Dree's eyes narrowed as she watched the slight smirk creep up Chris' face.
"What does it say?" she asked, knowing that she really didn't want to know. Chris smiled and turned the slip of paper around, holding it up for her to see ( ... )
