30 Questions for Persona 4 Fans

1) First of all, what's your name/handle?
Caitlin / Loo / 'heartplace'.

2) What prompted you to play Persona 4?
Well, I'd been wanting to play it since I heard it was in development - after Emily introduced me to Persona 3, I was pretty much hooked to the series. But with Reefer Madness taking up my life around the time it was released, I never got the chance. It wasn't until Nick showed me the Persona 4 Endurance Run over at Giant Bomb that I decided I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeded to play.

3) What were your first thoughts when you started playing?
When I started playing myself, it was mostly along the lines of "augh, hurry up" because I had already seen all (three hours or so) of the exposition on the Endurance Run. But the first time I was watching it, I was totally engrossed. The story wasn't anything like I had been expecting, compared to Persona 3, and I was constantly wondering what would happen next.

4) What's your MC's name and background?
Ahaha. Well, the first time I played it was "Shuji Seto", which I would love to say was an intentional pun on the actual name, but was actually just a horrifc typo. Both my New Game + and the game with Sarah are named Souji Seta, though, so it's all good.

5) What kind of character/personality is your MC?
I see Souji as being that chill guy who chimes in with a sarcastic comment every now and then. He just kinda lets life happen, you know?

6) Who is your favorite character?
Aaauuughhh toss-up between Naoto and Chie. At first it was just Chie - don't ask me why, because I can't really pinpoint it; something about her just clicks with me. But once I started Naoto's social link, I sort of fell in love with her character. Which is bizarre, cause I hated her at first, but she really does become a totally different person when she's alone with the MC. The subject of her crossdressing, too, which becomes a large part of the social link, is fascinating to me.

Oh, and Kanji too. I was so angry when the game wouldn't let me date him.

I'm also a large fan of the villain, but that is all I will say just in case Sarah reads this. ♥

7) Conversely, who didn't you like?
As far as the Investigation Team goes, there really isn't anyone that I don't like. Yukiko would probably be my least favourite, because she's so boring as a character to me, but then she definitely has her moments. I guess the Sun social link is probably my least favourite character. I've seen both Yumi and Ayane, and I'm not a fan of either.

8) What was your favorite Social Link?
Naoto, for sure. Kanji's was interesting as well.

9) What was your favorite scene?
Two words: King's Game.
Although the culture festival comes in as a close second. Both times I laughed my ass off.

10) What was your favorite Persona?
I don't know? I ended up using this peacock-looking thing a lot, I think it was the Star Max persona? I really don't remember, now that I think of it.

11) What was the toughest boss/Shadow?
Shadow Mitsuo, oh my fucking god. I had to fight that thing five times before I finally killed it.

12) What was your favorite BGM?
The music that plays when you're in the 'lobby' of the TV world. I don't know what it's called, it's not on the soundtrack that comes with the game, but it roooocks.

(Edit: FOUND IT)

13) What was your favorite event?
Wait, isn't this pretty much the same as question 9?
The entire trip to Tatsumi Port Island was a major win, and I guess that counts as an 'event' rather than a 'scene', so...

14) Are there any scenes that made you cry?
Yes, actually. And I won't say what it is, because there are major spoilers involved. But I'll admit, I cried.

15) Right now, what month are you on of what number of playthroughs? (e.g., July of your second playthrough)
April of my second & third playthroughs, haha. I've just met Chie and Yosuke in my New Game + and in the game with Sarah we're about to kick some Shadow Yukiko ass.

16) In all honesty, did you do all six girls?
Bahaha, nope. Chie was my girlfriend, and I tried not to cheat, but I accidentally ended up with Rise too. I wanted to date Naoto, but I hit the wrong option... plus, I never maxed her social link, so. :| We were friends. I maxed out Yukiko as a friend, too. Didn't get very far with Ai or Ayane.

17) Did you figure out the true suspect by yourself?
NO ;___; It was spoiled for me. I ran into a character who I had forgotten about, so I looked them up on Wikipedia to refresh my memory. Bad idea. I only caught a glance, so I thought I had read it wrong, but as the game played out I knew I had to have seen it right. Dammit.

18) What were your feelings when the true suspect was revealed?
"Oh man, I was right."
However, if I hadn't have been spoiled, it would have more than likely been along the lines of "uhsldkgvjgd/zf/sz;g HOLY FUCKING SHIT NO WAY"

19) List your final party and their assignments (i.e. what you had them do), please.
- Souji (well, duh) - Offensive, but more of a fill-in-the-blanks. Do everything that my party members couldn't, mostly; usually ice and electric.
- Yosuke - Offensive; Garudyne the hell out of those bitches.
- Chie - Item support / Tarukaja / God's Hand. For awhile I had replaced her with Naoto, but quickly discovered that Megidola wasn't nearly worth all of that SP loss.
- Yukiko - Healing/Offensive. Usually mostly healing, though with fire amp&boost I made excuses for her to use Agidyne as well.

20) Would you like to live in Inaba?
Actually, I wouldn't mind it, aside from that whole murder spree thing. It's full of real characters, that's for sure.

21) Every day's great at?
... Oh, you've memorized it already? ♪

22) List the parts of Persona 4 you thought were fun/amusing. (As many as you'd like.)
Dude, I already did.

23) List any parts of Persona 4 you found tiresome/worrisome.
The time in-between dungeons (and, consequently, plot). You can only hang out with your basketball bros so often.

24) Now that Persona 4 is mixed-media (i.e., the "official" manga, the gag anthologies, the drama CDs), what forms of it do you like?
I haven't really seen any of the other "media", but I did just listen to the drama CD this afternoon. It was okay - the plot was sort of dumb, but Kanji had some nice moments, so. Eh.

25) How much of the Persona series have you played?
Just P3 and P4. Well, and P3 FES - but I got about halfway through The Answer before I gave up. Too much (really really hard) fighting, not enough plot.

26) What do you think was the most fun part of the series?
Figuring out what the hell was going on. Most of the time I had no clue - in a good way. Definitely made for an interesting mystery.
Character development was pretty awesome, too.

27) What do you hope to see in the next game?
Just keep doin' what you've been doin', Atlus. The Persona series is only getting better.

28) What are your overall thoughts on Persona 4?
Voice acting, game play, character design & development, storyline, menu design - this game makes P3 look almost bad in comparison. I opened up my file in P3FES the other day and couldn't believe how bland everything was. But, really, I loved it - obviously, or I wouldn't be taking this survey. I'm actually really looking forward to playing it through again.

29) To whom will you pass this on?
Idk? Sarah, I guess this is your assignment for when we finish the game. |D

30) One last word!
BEARSONA

Man, it's raining. D:
