It was a strange few days, and not just because of being a child for that time. That, actually, I have come to enjoy. Seeing father was at first worrisome, then rather pleasant. Something happened, though, and I'm not sure when. I just know something is different.
I'll figure it out, I hope. Perhaps Kerai knows, though I'm so embarrassed she saw me like that. In my musings, I nearly run into the poor man in the streets.
"Oh!" At least I didn't actually run into him, but it was a close thing. "Pardon me, I wasn't paying any attention at all."

It seems a strange, specific study to me though I know the modern world does require people to do more specific work--there is just too much to know for anything else

He could get grasp the basic concept of what the other man was implying, even if he didn't know or understand everything to which he was referring.
"This place gives you something you didn't have back home. You wanna enjoy it while it lasts." As strange as this place was, that notion made sense to him.
"Might as well gain something from being stuck here, whatever that may be."
"Yes, I do wish to enjoy it." Not being given the choice to leave, why would I be unhappy when there is so much reason to be otherwise?
"I'm not even sure all I gain. For you, there may be unexpected benefits as well. You could consider it an opportunity to train for work or call it a vacation, as many do."
