With a box of
Elmo cupcakes, freshly frosted, in his hand, Peeta stood outside Laura's door. He was, perhaps a nervous as he'd been going to see Haymitch, but for different reasons. He knew Laura still hadn't fully recovered from what happened, even if she was out of the hospital. But if there was one thing Peeta (and Katniss) knew, it was that even when the scars on the surface healed, there were no guarantees about the scars inside.
So he wasn't here to gloat, no. He was here to share and to hope that a joy worked where medicine didn't. Plus, there was no one he'd met in the village that he trusted more than Laura.
With that in mind, he knocked.
