Erica completely forgot about her birthday. It was Sunday, and in the morning, the kids had helped her make chocolate chip pancakes, and they really were...gorgeous. Beautiful kids that had (what would have been) John's dark hair, and his eyes. Except for Audrey who had those blue deep eyes you could get lost in. And then, with the village being its usual dick self, those kids disappeared at midnight. They'd opted not to tell them, and that night putting them to bed had been hard. These three kids somewhere out there that she didn't screw up like she screwed up Tyler. Maybe Madeline wouldn't grow up to resent her and get killed because of it.
Monday was busy spent picking up the pieces, finding out about all of the people who'd had kids come and go - and wouldn't you know, John had an entire life with Juliet. Go figure.
Today, she doesn't want to be messed with, and she manages half a day before she manages to say something to John about needing air, and she walks out of the station. She's wandering, not sure where she's going until she gets to the marina. And, why the hell not, so she gets on the boat and goes below deck, finding their stash of liquor and taking just one shot of vodka before putting the cap on and putting it away again. Then she lies down on her side, letting the boat rock her.
She misses those kids. Even if some other version of herself would miss them more. She wants them. Kids she'll never have.
(catch her going to the boat, but she's sad and grumpy, jsyk.)
