Waking up (OTA)

The first moments of consciousness made Kyla very aware of the headache that was pulsing through her head. It felt a lot like the time Leoben had convinced her to drink a lot and she woke up the next day with a hangover. Her body ached a little and she was aware, even though she hadn't opened her eyes yet, that she was in a place like the clinic - the smell was something she was intimately familiar with.

Her fingers stirred first, then her eyes blinked even though her eyelids were closed. She inhaled, cringed, and then slowly opened her eyes. The fluorescent lighting was harsh and Kyla squinted.
