Crafty Angel

Nobody spotted it as it was happening, and even the earliest morning joggers were likely confused that they may have woken up in a dream world. Castiel had been pretty bored the past few weeks after they had officially dealt with Abbadon, and he had taken up knitting and crocheting. He was a fast learner.

I notice the strange colours on the lampposts, but I didn't really expect the same for the trees. Olore seems quite happy with it all, as he's clawing and chewing at one of the trunks. It's yarn, which I can see as I get closer.

Did the village do this? If so, it's a rather odd and innocent prank for it to pull. Valar, there's yarn everywhere.

Can tag him, or just let the cat chew on the trees for a while.

The good thing about the yarn he chose, is that it's all completely harmless and biodegradable (though the yarn on the dead tree has a protective charm on it). Leave it to Cas to think that much about it all. Not that he was going to leave it for long anyway.

He spots the cat first, clawing at the trunk, and smiles. Should he confess to people that he did all of this, or just leave them to enjoy it?

I notice a person among all the colour. Ah, someone I know. I smile and wave at him.

"I had no idea that Olore would find outside this interesting today. Now I feel bad that I've not given him yarn before." He seems to be enjoying it very much.

Cas was trying to figure out if he'd met this man before. He knows he is friends with Kerai, and that he was in their wedding ceremony, but he doesn't remember ever talking with him before.

"There's more where that came from." Cas pulled some extra bits out of his pocket. He had a lot of leftovers. "Can I give it to him?"

[[If my Cas has met Faramir I do apologize.]]

"You can. It will keep him from ruining the trees." I am somewhat surprised.

"So all of this is from you?" I know that angels are unique beings, but I would not have imagined this.

I don't remember. He's met several Castiels and any oddness is just the way Castiel is.

[[Lol true!]]

Cas was busy dangling the yarn above Olore, trying to get him interested in that instead of what was tied around the tree.

"Hm? Oh, yes. I took knitting up as a hobby, and then I read about this- what they call 'yarn bombing'- in a book. I thought I'd give it a try." And he got really bored at night sometimes, when everyone else was sleeping. It gave him a lot of hours to himself.

Olore did turn from the difficult to obtain tree yarn to the easy target. He wasn't a stupid animal by a lot.

"Bombing? It's vastly more entertaining than any other sort of bombing I've read about." I certainly haven't read that book, but I know nothing at all of knitting.

"Here I've been reading some books on how to cook but there is nothing of bombing in those." Not like the throwing of overripe fruit occasionally perpetrated back on the island. "Although the leftover food from Shane's cookout might have seemed like a bombing."

I make a face, faux-tragic.

"He asked if I wanted leftovers. I thought a meal or so. He gave me enough for a week and more."

Castiel only understood about half of what Faramir was talking about.

"If there is such a thing, I think I may have food bombed my kitchen once."

He didn't know a Shane, and he was still pretty certain that he had never met this man either. But Olore was fun to play with at least.

"I believe this is technically a form of vandalism in some places, but I guess I just wanted people to look at things differently for once."

It takes me a moment to work out what vandalism means.

"Will the yarn hurt the trees?" I would hope not. "I do not see a problem, if nothing is harmed."

The modern world is a very strange place. They allow great buildings to block the sun and machines to poison the air, but not yarn.

"Only if it was on them for a very long time, restricting their growth, perhaps. Though the rain would loosen the threads before the trees were ever harmed." Castiel shook his head. "I don't plan on keeping it up for very long, anyway."

"Ah. Enjoy it while you can, Olore." He's busy with Castiel and his yarn.

"We'll have to come out every day." Olore enjoys summer, except when it's raining.

"I like it, whatever my opinion is worth. Olore obviously does too."

Castiel grinned, finally giving the string up to the cat. "Thank you. I would have never had time to do something like this back in my world." It had been fun.

"There are many things I could not have done at home, and my work is certainly not so important as yours." Whatever work angels do. Some are warriors, some messengers. I do not exactly know.

"There are so many new things for most of us. Cats, too."

"Where is home for you? My home... well I haven't been home in quite a while." He supposed he should also ask this man his name, but he was speaking as if they knew each other well. The man knew he was an angel, anyway.

"I did want a cat friend myself once."

"I am from the kingdom of Gondor." I get an odd feeling. "Faramir, of Gondor."

Castiel isn't human, and his mannerisms are not at all so.

"Are you not the same Castiel I've met before?" I do not think an angel would forget, so the mistake must be mine.

"I don't think so, no. I mean, I've never met you before, though I know of you through Kerai." Cas grimaced apologetically. "I've heard that I have been here before a few times. And... I've not necessarily always been myself even back in my world."
