Buffy had learned long ago that she could do more with the help of others than by herself. I don't think it was supposed to do that.
I just can't get over how different the hotel looks from what it usually does. Perhaps there's magic involved.

No matter how many times they happen.
"These gatherings are much better. It's good to see us all working together, even for something as simple as a party. Not that this is a simple party at all--none of our court gatherings were ever so elaborate."

I hold out my sleeve.
"All of this."

After she looks at him to make sure he won't be offended if she touches the sleeve, she lightly runs her finger over the cloth. "A machine would weave the cloth, another perform the cuts, then a person would use yet another to stitch everything together. Thousands a day.
"A hand-made shirt like this would be extremely expensive, if one wished to buy one.
"And in my time and place, the cost would be astronomical."

"I've had a few ordinary shirts made here. There is a young lady now who works at one of the shops who does sewing. There was another but she left." Aibileen made the first of the shirts and a copy of my tunic.
"You could have handmade clothing if you wished it. But there are so many things already made. That is what I wear mostly." Oh.
"I have a garment handmade by the Elves. It's much finer than what I wear now. It's a cloak they gave my brother and he gave it to me."

She takes a sip of her champagne. "If you've told me and I've forgotten please forgive me. Is your brother here?"

"He was here but left. It was the first time we were turned to children that he gave me that cloak." I remember with a smile. "My own wool one was too long and heavy but the hithlain is much finer."

"I do enjoy my time here regardless. The people are fascinating and I have the feeling that I have something to do--even after all this time spent in the village." I think I could go home if I wished, but something keeps me here. "I've learned so much here, from varied sources. Mostly people."
I laugh slightly.
"That's a surprise to my book-loving self."

"I've disagreed with books before but never have I had one disagree with me." Perhaps it could happen in some magical place. "Though I've heard of a book--it was a magic book--that moved and could even bite."*
I don't want to think about it.
"That might put me off reading for a while."
*Faramir has read the first six Harry Potter books and refers to the Monster Book of Monsters.

"Don't watch 'Army of Darkness,' then," Kilrenko smiles. "It has an evil book that flies around and tries to eat the hero before he opens it and fins a dimensional portal."

I've seen a few films.
"I saw Singin' in the Rain a long time ago. I sometimes think of watching it again to see if it makes more sense. Though it was entertaining to watch even when I didn't understand." I look down and smile. "We just don't have people dancing like that where I come from. It's amazing."
