Author Notes: This is kind of a missing scene type of ficlet, of the variety I would have loved to seen. Besides I love the Rachel/Blaine Friendship(and/or Relationship)and this gave me a reason to write them. Not 100% happy with it, but I do like it.
Disclaimer: I own none of the characters in this work of fiction. I am simply using the characters for my own entertainment and am not gaining money for this.

Late Night Visitor

“Ray-bear,” her father Hiram calls up to her, “there’s a young man her to see you.”

Rachel frowns, glancing at her Wicked wall clock. It’s thirty minutes before twelve and she’s confused as to who could possibly be at the door summoning her at this hour. She quickly rules Finn out, he knows better than to just show up without so much as a call or text so that she could properly warn her fathers. Puck is also quickly ruled out, he would have simply tossed a pebble at her window until she opened it so he could climb in. Still stumped(though she had an idea, her dad wouldn’t let just any boy come in this late at night), Rachel made her way down the stairs.

“Oh Blaine,” she whispered in surprise as she took in the disheveled young man standing in the foyer. His hair was ungelled(this, she believes, is also due to the late hour) and sticking up on end, unlike the parted side she is so used to. The black shirt he wore was half out of his pants. What really got her was how red his eyes wore, like he had been crying for hours.

“Hey Rachel,” he says shakily, “I’m sorry for just showing up, but can I talk to you?” his eyes travel nervously to her dad, who quickly catches on.

“Right, well I trust you enough Ray-bear,” he says, kissing the top of her head before retreating up the stairs to his room and husband.

“Of course we can talk,” she grabs his hand, leading him to the living room and sits him down.

The normally well collected boy to too quiet and Rachel doesn’t know what to do with herself when she takes the seat beside him. He fidgets, playing with his hand, staring at the blank tv screen.

When Blaine made no move to talk, Rachel finally spoke up, “What did you want to talk about?”

“He’s cheating on me,” came the simple reply.

She’s quiet, not sure how to reply to the statement. She had told Kurt that much when she’d discovered his ridiculously happy at receiving texts from that other boy who wasn’t Blaine.

“You knew, didn’t you?” brown teary eyes turned to her, his already crestfallen face fell even more. “God, I’m stupid. Of course, you’d know already. You’re his best friend. I think I should go. It was stupid to come here.”

He made a move to get up till Rachel reached out and grabbed his hand.

“Don’t go, you came to talk to me. Please talk to me.”

Taking the seat again, Blaine lightly shrugged off her hand, “I really don’t know what I came here for.”

Rachel hides the hurt as she focuses on him, “You’re hurt Blaine. Anyone can see that and it’s to be expected. I don’t agree with what Kurt did, I told him he should have told you.” He growing hurt in Blaine’s eyes tore her heart, “How did...How did you find out?”

“Kurt had left the room and his phone buzzed. I didn’t mean to look at his phone, but it just kept buzzing. When I looked they were all from Chandler,” he spat out the other boys name out as though it were a disease, “every single one of them.” As the tears started to roll down his cheeks, Rachel reached out and drew him into a tight hug. She’d never expected to see Blaine, of all people, to be so broken. “What did I do wrong? Is it because I’m younger and still have a year before I can leave here? Am I not good enough?”

“Shh...shh...Blaine, there is nothing wrong with you! You are a great person and Kurt is being silly by even entertaining these texts from what’s his name. Never doubt yourself. All you need is to work out things out and talk to Kurt. Take this time to think things through and clear your head.”

Blaine gently pried himself from Rachel’s arms and wiped at the tears that were still falling. “Maybe you’re right.”

She offered him one of her biggest smiles, “Blaine Anderson, you should know by now that I am always right,” at the watery laugh she received in reply her smile just grew impossibly large. “You know what, why don’t you spend the night Mr. Anderson? We can spend the rest of this late night watching movies or dancing and singing!”

He looked nervously at the stairs, “Would that be okay with your dads? I mean I’m sure I already broke a bunch of the rules they set up for you, just by showing up this late. Now having me spend the night...”

She waved him off, “No problem, Kurt has slept over a multitude of times. This would be no different. Simply inform your parents and I will tell my dads.”

Rachel stood up and was up the stairs before he could even attempt to argue with her. After she explained the situation to them, her fathers agreed to let the former Warbler to spend the night, just like she knew they would. Content she grabbed comforters and pillows from the linen closet and returned to the living room. Blaine offered her a less watery smile, and she felt good to know she helped in some manner to return the pep to his chipper personality.
