Eager to get a quick start on the next day (when he'd planned on surveying the sensors he placed around the village), the Doctor opted for a night at the hotel instead of the TARDIS. Early Wednesday morning, he intended on popping into Lemondrop Labs to pick up a few things before spending his day in the village. But the sight which greeted him once he opened the lab door prompted a swift change in plans.

Brow furrowing, he carefully walked through the mess of workspaces, watchful of disturbing any of it. Glass crunched under his sneakers as he surveyed the damage. Experiments tossed into utter confusion. Photos defaced with blacked-out teeth and drawn-in mustaches. And other unwelcome surprises lurked for unsuspecting victims, as he learned the hard way after a handful of paper spring-snakes leapt out of the filing cabinet he dared open.

After helping clean up the Labs, he headed for the Museum, where he hoped to find a few hours respite before the patrons arrived at the Observatory for the evening. But once he reached the lobby, it was clear the place hadn't escaped damage. Not stopping to greet or aid anyone he encountered, he tore up the steps to the roof in a single-minded frenzy to reach the only thing in the blasted place which mattered: his TARDIS.

"Oh, no."

The Observatory was littered with exhibit debris, museum maps, and bits and pieces of planetary models. A good number of the telescopes were smashed, the solar telescope display screens were shattered, and the projector in the planetarium was warped and beaten beyond recognition.

He leapt across the tumbled velvet ropes surrounding the police box, his eyes focusing on something small and white starkly outlined against the faded blue of the exterior. Wedged in the crack of space between the TARDIS doors was a single Joker card, which the Doctor snatched off with trembling fingers. His other hand, he pressed against the doors.

"Still locked. Thank heavens," he sighed, head bowing as he sought comfort and assurance in the mental and physical presence of his ship.

Which told him that everything was alright.

[catch him at the labs or in the observatory. slowtime warnings apply.]
