Arrival (Closed to Uhura and Bones)

Jan 19, 2009 21:57

Spock stepped onto the transporter platform, standing on one of the pads with his tricorder hanging by its strap over his shoulder and a perpetually grim expression on his face. Well, not so much grim intentionally. It was meant to be an expression of nothing, but the natural shape of his eyebrows was perceived by most humans as sinister.

Mentally he prepared himself to deal with yet another Klingon skirmish, working out the possibilities. Though deep down he knew it would likely be Captain Kirk who would have to work out the details. The Klingons despised how the Vulcan couldn't be provoked... by them, anyway. Really, he was secretly amazed that Kirk hadn't demanded Spock stay on the bridge while he went to conduct negotiations.

He waited until one of the two men that could provoke him joined him on the transporter platform along with Lt. Uhura. He waited until they took their places, and gave the transporter operator a flat look. "Energize," he ordered.

The now all too familiar blanking out occurred. His vision faded with a glitter of bright lights and he had the vague impression of losing consciousness, an experience that could be horrifying for someone who had never been on a transporter before (and probably still was to the frequently illogical Dr. McCoy).

When his vision returned, though, he was not underneath a pink sky as he'd been expecting, and he wasn't in the middle of a dilithium mining town with angular buildings and climate of moderate temperature. This air was cool (especially to a desert creature like a Vulcan) and the buildings seemed to be of ancient Earth.

He looked sharply to see if Uhura and Dr. McCoy were still with him, quickly retrieving his communicator.

[(Uhura and McCoy referred to with permission. This entry is closed, but they'll be out and threading in no time. Feel free to see them beam in.)]
