Blake had been in the village for several days. He hadn't learned much other than what Avon had told him but that wasn't surprising. He didn't suspect anyone would know anything Avon didn't find out first.

He wasn't quite as clever, technically, as Avon, but he was clever nevertheless and if it was one thing Blake could do well it was talk to people, befriend them (or be friendly with them at least) and get information from them.

Well, there was always the option of holding them at gunpoint, but so far Blake decided such things would be unnecessary, as far as he knew. Avon was right. The people in this village seemed rather domestic and it didn't seem to be a superficial sort of calm. No, they seemed rather content, as far as he could tell.

Still. There was something afoot in this place, and Blake was determined to find out what.
